... beach. We were in search of seafood on a stick as well as a place to have dinner. The first task was to find a place where we could land the dinghies without getting flipped. We started at one end of the beach and ran along until we came to the far end. That, of course, is where we should have started the search. The surf was benign and we easily landed on the shore. Once we had the dinghies above the high tide line we spied a beach vendor selling ...

We disembarked at the central market, which was a very standard central market. We entered at the pork and fish zone, with its full pigs’ heads and smell of fish, then passed through t-shirts and other items to the opposite side of the market. From there, we went to the cathedral, which was in the middle of a mass or at least a homily. It was packed – standing room only – so we ...
Had a bit of a wander along Acalpulco's famous beach - it is set in a delightful well protected bay - and fisherman still pull their nets each day along the sweep of sand.
Anyone who is a VW 'Beatle' fan would love Acalpulco - there are thousands of them being used every day for taxis, as well as private cars. We even took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and squeezed into one for the ride back to the RV park.
We pushed on north through ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Sunspree Mazatlan
This hotel has a great pool, the rooms are very nice, the bathrooms are huge, the place is overall very clean. We had the ocean view room which had an awesome view (no balcony). The location is north of El cid and most of the action/shopping is south by the dairy queen. Breakfast at the hotel was terrible(stay away from the scrambled eggs) and not cheap $7 U.S. I would recommend buying snacks and drinks at walmart and keeping them in your room/fridge. Restaurants I would recommend are No Name Cafe for ribs, Gus & Gus for fantastic shrimp kebobs, La Casa Country (right across the street) for great steaks (little bit pricey but well worth it), and Marys Sandwich Shoppe for awesome hamburgers. I would exchange my money at the american express office( located in the same strip mall as Dairy Queen). Want to call home? Buy 60mins for $5 US. at Christine's internet cafe located next door to Subway. Quality of phone line not the greatest, but it's alot cheaper than making a call from your hotel room. If anybody has any questions feel free to e-mail me.
Holiday Inn Sunspree has transformed this place for you to spend a vacation with them and without complaint. It does not look like "Your Father's Holiday Inn!" They have put renovation dollars in all the right places and make every effort to make your vacation memorable.
A series of small to medium irritants cause me to be less than enthusiastic about this hotel.
Great vacation ....great hotel!!
The service was excellent for a 3 star hotel. Rooms are clean and large. Upgraded to a 2 room ocean view suite for 20 bucks a night. The staff is very friendly. Was there in Jan 2003 and will be going back next year. Best nachos around and steak and lobster tail for 13 dollars. Been to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun, The Holiday Inn Mazatlan was a great bargain!!!!
Stay here you won't regret it
This is an excellent hotel. The rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean. The bathrooms immaculant. The lobby, and surrounding areas are lovely. The pool and swim up bar great. It is on a very nice and clean beach. The staff is very friendly. I did have breakfast buffet one morning and found that it was geared more to the Mexican taste. There is a substantial breakfast menu, and would suggest ordering from that. There is a very nice outdoor restaurant located next to the pool on the property. Loads of restaurants to choose from in the immediate area. I would recommend this hotel without reservation, I am sure that anyone staying there would love it.
Great Pool at Holidy Inn
We spent Jan 10-24 at the Holiday Inn and found it to have spacious, clean rooms. We were on the street side which was a bit noisy. The best feature of the hotel is the infinity pool: it is heated, large and has a swim up bar. Bar staff were all friendly. The hotel is right on the beach and within walking distance of great restaurants. The hotel restaurant was pretty pricey compared to the places around it, so venture out and try dinner at El Botete across the street, Locos Locos or Tony's up the beach or Carlos and Lucia's right next door, to name just a few.
After a bad experience in a cheap place, we moved to the Holiday Inn and enjoyed the rest of our vacation. The streetside room had a bit of traffic noise but nothing you couldn't handle. The room was clean and well maintained (the hotel is undergoing renovation and I think we got one of the renovated rooms). Location is great - you can walk easily to the Golden Zone and to the north. Try the beach walk to Restaurant Loco's Loco's 300 m north! Service was great - I asked for a noisy AC fan to be fixed and it was done within 10 minutes. Poolside bar great - just wish the happy hour lasted all day! We would stay here again.
Good service and great location. We only paid for a garden view but they upgraded us at no cost to an ocean view. Which we didn't even ask them to. Only a ten minute walk to town your right on the beach great pool.
Great for spring break
I went here several years ago but because there was only one review I thought I would ad my 2 cents. I went for spring break and loved it.
Right when we got there it was happy hour and the pool was beautiful. I couldn't even tell it was your Holiday Inn. It was beautiful I would recommend it to anyone who was on a budget. It is right on the beach and walking distance to everything. The rooms were very clean and the staff was helpful. Save your money and spend it in Mexico.
