Holiday Inn Grand Haven-Spring Lake,Mi

Grand Rapids, MI... I have nothing to say really. It decided to start raining like crazy the minute we crossed the Michigan border. Needless to say, I didn't feel like exploring much in the rain. But, our show went well, we had an excellent crew in a great space, so I can't really complain. I just hope Michigan gets a bit better.

... mmmmmmm, I wonder,......no, that’s just silly......or is it? Could there be a connection between the lack of humans and the increase in the squirrel population? George was curious. To be fair , we did see a few people driving around, I couldn’t help but think they had been driving for a long time, caught in the Holland Loop that caused them, no matter what route they took, to end up in exactly the same place again. I might’ve mistaken ...

So I head off today on this big adventure! I will be in Amsterdam for 3 days and then I head off to Arusha on Sunday with my group. I am full of excitement and nerves and I can't wait to learn and experience everything this semester will offer. There will be many stories and photos (if I can find somewhere to upload them) to follow.

Well, this is just a welcome to my newly-formed travel blog. I've been in Holland for most of the summer, and I am going home in a day and a half to spend the next two weeks with my family. Holland has been good for me... I don't think I could have spent another summer working at my high school job in Red Wing. But hey, who says you can't go home?

... and probably attack you. I've come to the conclusion that bees really aren't such bad guys. After all, fear is nothing but a lack of understanding.

Fun Times in Sparta

On Saturday we began traveling the relatives circuit and went all around town visiting my Grandpa Schipper, Grandma Ensing, cousins, etc. We also had lunch at a local pizza place called “DJ’s” which still in my opinion has the best pizza in the world. On Saturday night Lauren, my parents and I traveled to nearby Holland to walk around and then head to the beach. Holland quickly became one of Lauren and my favorite places. It is a city that is very rich ...

So, I'm New. For now. I have not yet embarked on a journey, but as soon as i do, you, and i mean you will be the first to know. I Plan to travel as much as possible throughout my life and experience the most breathtaking sights known to man-kind, and maybe not known at all. I love new places, people and things. I crave travel. I am Belaka, and you are?

Is going to Haiti right for everyone? No! The point is to find a cause you are passionate about and reach out your hand. You can be the change, the difference, the heart of a cause! Haiti inspires me to feel grateful for what I have, to teach my children they need to give back, and to continue my volunteerism all year in other ways. I look forward to my travels there again someday.

... was by far the best place to stay. Seeing the sun set over the dunes a couple nights in a row is enough to make life feel a fantasy. Loneliness was never even considered with such beauty.

I lived off of pasta and meats that I bought on my way out to beach every night. I made a fire every night and cooked over it and kept enough wood nearby to keep me warm through the VERY cold Michigan ...
