... and herd their deer up each year and count them. Some of the reindeer come back naturally, but they often have to use helicopters and dogs to find them. They cross the borders sometimes. ... we dat je hier kunt raften en er zijn zo'n 11 stroomversnellingen, The Myllykoski Rapids.
Onze tweede stop is aan een waterval, we staan eigenlijk veel te hoog om het moois van dichtbij te zien. Dus doen we later een pad naar links (met veel trappen naar beneden) om uiteindelijk bij een plat breed waterke uit te komen, pfff, al die trappen terug omhoog.

Silent People in Suomussalmi, onderweg nr Kuusamo
Op de weg tussen Kuusamo en Kajaani, staan 1000 stro-kop poppen, het kunstwerk "Het stille volk" (Hiljainen Kansa). Uiteraard is er ook een winkeltje met de stomste souveniers, maar wij kiezen uiteraard voor de lekkerste van al, een pannekoek met bosbessen.
