Avoid the staff
First the good: The hotel is beautiful, the 1bd/1ba room is large, gorgeous and well maintained. The grounds are lovely and the pool, water slide, lazy river and splash area are perfect. We saw a magic show in the kids playroom within 30 minutes on our first day. We didn't have enough time to see everything. We missed the game room and movie theatre altogether. The hotel has a very comfortable and relaxed setting. We had an ocean view from our room and had our morning coffee on the balcony watching the waves and cruise ships dock. Our relatives stayed in the rather tight studio unit with a tennis court/parking garage view. They don't bother you but once for the tour. Now the bad: From the moment we arrived I could feel a lacking presence of staff. No bellmen to help with luggage or parking. Be prepared to dedicate at least 20 minutes looking for a cart at checkout and another 20 minutes waiting for a tiny elevator. Our room was missing sheets for the pull-out and an iron. They turn off the water for the slide and splash area promptly at 5pm - just when you get going after a long day of sightseeing. There are NO lifeguards, but plenty of staff checking to see if you have your pool tag in case you are tresspassing. Babysitters are not available after 5pm. The sundry shop closes early, too. It's a long walk to the beach. About 3 staffers are pleasant, the rest have been hired for their emotional instability. The restaurant is overworked and forgetful and the manager is less than accomodating. Rude, I think, is the word. Overall, if you don't speak to anyone that works there and need none of their services, you will do quite well. Don't expect anything quickly and keep an eye on your little ones. The place is enormous. If you love Cocoa Beach, this is a nice choice. We had relatives stay at the Hilton and although it was right on the beach, some had trouble with their rooms and the pool is tiny. But, it had much better service. Hope this helps!! Enjoy your vacation.
You will love staying at this wonderful brand new resort. My husband, 3 boys, and myself stayed in a 2 bedroom on the portside and enjoyed watching the cruise coming and going. There are double sliding glass doors that open up to the balcony from the living room that make you feell as if the inside is part of the outside. You will never have to leave this resort because of all their is to do, great pool, lazy river, kids pool, tons of sprayers, movie theatre, indoor playarea that is better than Chuckie Cheese, mini golf, etc... The restaurant was the only negative of the whole place, terrible service and not the best tasting meal. You will be happy with the amenities here.....The beach is wonderful too, when you tire of the pool than you can head to the beach for a change of pace. We had a great time!
My family just came back from a great stay at Cape Caribe. The unit was very large, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The beach was very clean and not crowded. You can watch the sea turtles, the dolphins and the manatees swim by. As well, the waves are good so the kids had a blast boogie boarding. It's fun to watch the cruise ships leave and we even saw a submarine come into port. The water slide and the lazy river were a hit, and the gigantic jungle jim can keep even an older child busy. The small movie theatre played the latest movies all day and the mini putt course was fun to play. There were some very interesting activities organized by the resort such as a visit from a wild life center where the children got to pet aligators and a panther. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to meet our needs. I would definitely recommend this resort and I'll be sure to visit it again next year!
Made for Kids!
The "kids" and husband took me for Mother's Day weekend (with another friend and her daughter). While the kids played in a giant (GIANT) McDonalds type fun room for hours and hours and hours, I read a book and fell asleep. The pool area is wonderful -- lazy river, giant slide, separate pool, big Jacuzzi were all wonderful. The pool building is about a 5 minute walk to the beach (and ocean front rooms) but I recommend the pool building if you have children. There is miniature golf which the kids also loved. The restaurant was slow (waited over an hour for dinner and it was empty) but the food was good. I didn't find it overpriced. They seemed a little confused -- restaurant not open for breakfast -- but it was.... Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's in an industrial-type area so you won't be walking around outside the hotel -- but that was ok with us. We went to Cocoa Beach one night for dinner. The hotel recommended Florida Seafood (A1A toward Cocoa, right on 520 and on the left before the bridge). The food was great and prices reasonable. It was kid friendly. Hush puppies, great salad, fresh seafood all worth a trip.Enjoy!
Very hard to sleep here
My son and I stayed there this last Wednesday night, May 5th. The hotel is new and clean, and the pool will keep any kid occupied with the slide and lazy river type addition to the pool. My problem was the room was so light at night, I could not sleep. They do not dim the hall lights, and have a blind, with 1/2 of curtains. I called the front desk to inquire, and was told to hang up a blanket or something. Having just had knee surgery, I was not climbing on the furniture, so it was a very unrestful night. When I told the front desk, I got a less than sincere "I'm sorry". I paid over $110.00 dollars to get an " I'm sorry". I felt horrible, as anyone does when you do not sleep. The front desk said they heard of this complaint before, and will adress it at the next meeting. Their lack of not making it right, either by a coupon for another visit at a discounted stay, or a partial refund left me with the feeling of never going back, and telling everyone what you are reading.
Family vacation - excellent choice
Drove down to Florida for family vacation and 2 night stop at RonJon Resort with another family of 4 before leaving on 4 nite RCCL cruise. We shared a Two Bedroom Standard Villa and lucked out by getting a villa on first floor facing the pools and hot tubs and next to the mini RonJon Surf Shop (it was not noisy - more of a convenience store open until 7pm not the "Surf Shop" which is located on Cocoa Beach 10 min drive away). It was quite spacious and with 4 adults and 4 children (one is 7 and the rest are teens) - we never felt cramped or crowded. Open floor plan so kitchen dining and family room area feels spacious. Ceiling fans everywhere, master bedroom is HUGE with a nice jacuzzi tub and seperate shower in bathroom. Second bedroom had 2 double beds - alittle small for 4 people and a bath with shower also alittle small. Had dishwasher, washer and dryer, microwave, coffee maker, etc and provide you with laundry and dish detergent packets, etc. Nice touch. Missing was shampoo and hair dryer - but otherwise perfect. We had access to the pool thru our patio area (there are two gates to go through for privacy). Weather was perfect, pools and lazy man river were excellent. Kids said the water slide and kids water splash area were fun. Indoor kid playground was awesome. Theater is great and gameroom is very large. Mini golf is very tropical and lush and spread out among different areas of the outside of the resort. They had an outdoor tiki hut for drinks and some food. We mostly brought drinks from our room though. We ate all meals in the villa except for dinner the first night in their restaurant. For family of 4 it was only $65 with drinks and meals plus 20% tip - so I didn't think it was overpriced!? I guess if you had appetizers and dessert - it could add up a bit. There was also a small bar inside - they had a large TV screen and background music but it looked pretty empty after 10pm.We explored most of the resort too and found that there was NO ONE using their gym. The equipment looks brand new and they had some nice treadmills too and televisions suspended on the walls/ceilings. They also provide massage therapy upon request - though the pricing seemed a bit high to me.THere were golf carts to shuttle you around to the beach area (very beautiful - but there are no boardwalks with shops or restaurants here) - you need to catch the beach trolley to Cocoa Beach about 10 min trolley ride $1 per person - which now is a bit of a hike from the Resort (they used to have a pick up location outside the entrance - maybe they have that only in season??). I found one taxi company which was VERY good and inexpensive 321-354-TAXI (I think??) - only cost $16.00 for all 8 of us to get to the cruise terminal and leave our cars at the Resort. Much cheaper than the "shuttle" they suggest. However, coming BACK from the terminal - cost a small fortune of $40 (not the same taxi company). So beware - they will get you somehow - haha. We came back to the resort and our cars were in perfect order. Very safe environment. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. (Note: saw many people getting tours for their timesharing and alot of folks bought into it - don't know what the price is - I like to check out different places - so not interested in that sort of thing). And they NEVER approached me for timesharing tours which was great - since I just wanted to rent for a couple of nights. All in all - EXCELLENT vacation and EXCELLENT way to start it off at the RonJon Resort..
What a great find!
My husband and I recently stayed at the resort for 3 days after staying in Orlando. Were we ever surprised. Our room was a corner room on the 5th floor that overlooked the pool. We could see the ocean. We had booked a two bedroom. At first it seemed that this would be too big. By staying in the 2 bedrooms you had the adjoining efficiency and a 1-bedroom condo. (If you just stayed in the efficiency you did not have a balcony). Everything was brand new. There were ceiling fans in every room. VCR's and DVD players with every TV. We had a double whirlpool in our bathroom which was another bonus. The room was a lot cleaner and much more spacious than the $250 + we had just spent at Universal. The pool was beautiful with plenty of seating and the lazy river was bigger than some of the water parks that we had been to. The beach was a short walk away, but hotel employees were eager to take you to and from on golf carts. The beach was beautiful with clean sand and very few sunbathers. As a bonus we were within walking distance to the Sterling Casino Cruise line. We didn't come away as winners on the ship but we did have a good time. I would recommend this resort to everyone. I wish this were available when our kids were little. If you were going to Disney I would stay here and I would come back again.
I have been vacationing all over the world and never have I stayed at or even seen any place like this resort. My wife and 5 kids had the most incredible and relaxing time than any other vacation we have been on, and rate this resort by far A++. This resort had everything from a beautiful beach to a lazy river. There was an actual movie theater continually playing family movies throughout the day and a giant water slide that plunged you right into a lazy river. While traveling along the lazy river you were surprisingly refreshed by and occasional drenching caused by cone shaped buckets that when became top heavy tipped over onto un-expecting paddlers below. Our kids, ranging in age from 6 to 20, all had plenty of activities to keep them occupied. For the younger three there was also an indoor playground that put anything I have seen at Burger King or McDonald's to shame. For the older two there is a local Trolley that arrived about every hour to take them to the Mall or Ron Jon's for just a buc. All the theme parks were less than an hour away and there is a beautiful park right next door called Jetty Park that offers great fishing stories. Our stay at Cape Caribe ended with the most incredible view of something our family has never seen before; an "Atlas" rocket launch at night, a "must see". Wanna give your family a vacation to remember? Check it out!! WOW!!!!
Spacious but Lacking
Grounds were lovely. The putting green and basketball court a plus. Lobby is lovely. Pool area was fabulous. We enjoyed a nice view of Cruise Ships in the canal (Rm.#1129A). The room was large, brightly decorated and new, but lacking a few of the expected amenities, such as hairdryer and shampoos. Also, no housekeeping for less than a week stay (which you are not told until you arrive) and a Linen Exchange for you to get your own towels. The front desk and pool staff were less than courteous, but the owner's wife was a delightful person. The restuarant/lounge had a limited menu and overpriced. Overall: Overpriced, but comfortable and the kids will have fun.
Loved the Ron Jon!
My husband and two sons recently stayed at this new resort. We have just spent 28 nights in USA and I would have to say that the RON JON RESORT Cape Canaveral was the most outstanding accomodation that we stayed at. The resort has a large water park offering a water slide and lazy river. This facility, plus the games room, putt putt golf and movie theatre all offer the family plenty to do. We really loved the resort and could easily have spent much longer staying there but we had to continue with our travels. We have since recommended it to many fellow travellers. When we ask our sons what the best thing about their holiday was, they both answer "THE RON JON RESORT!".
