In about an hour and a half into her rest, she got up to go to the bathroom and wanted privacy, which was very hard for us to do, so we stood in the door. She was able to go, and then a bit later to pee. Her stomach had settled.

Today is a most special day. Not because of the sights we will see or what will happen. But because of what DID happen on this day 16 years ago about 3.5 hours from where we are today. On this day, we first held Katie Mei (Rao Qin) in our arms. And here we are 16 years later visiting the city of her birth. Such poetic justice.

We were all up and rarin to go this morning, our last morning in Shanghai.

... it might be a bit boring. We didn’t raft that day (although I hope to go back to do so), instead we went to a bridge that cross the river. The views from there are well worth the hike up, especially if you go out onto the bridge. There is an artificial waterfall, which is formed from a diversion of water from a canal, which makes the area very picturesque.

... get to see a few…ahem…early birds. A walking path surrounds the lake and the park has been planting trees like crazy. In a few years this park will be really worth the visit. I plan to go back in the spring because one section was dedicated to cherry trees. When they are in bloom the area should be breath taking. I’d advise bringing refreshments and a picnic lunch to truly enjoy the park. ...

The lift climbed over the first green mountain, and as it continued its ascent, the bare rock face of the granite spires came into view.
