Well, we made it to Orlando. The trip from Washington took us about 4 days because we don't like to drive very long each day. We made the trip down I95 and we were in the southern migration. Amazing how many northern license plates we saw making the annual trip to Florida for the winter. We will ...
... wanted to go to the Tiki room, and a show was just about to begin so there was no wait! Caitlyn would've liked it if she didn't have a slight attitude because she wanted to go on Aladdin's carpet first. We did do the carpet ride next. I went on with her and of course she had fun!
We went on the Jungle Cruise, then got a spot for the parade. It wasn't a bad spot. Caitlyn waved the entire parade, unless it was a 'bad' character!
It was time for a ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hilton in Walt Disney World Resort Orlando
Excelent hotel. Room was clean. Early checkin not a problem with great service. Nice pools. Walking distance to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.
I checked out early of the Hotel Riu Orlando because it was disgusting and then went to the Hilton. We were very pleased. Rooms were large, nice, and clean and the Hotel is very close to Pleasure Island, perfect if you don't feel like driving. The only minor complaint is that the doors are very thin, and you can hear the kids running down the hall to go to Disney at 7am. However, I would definitely stay there again.
The hotel looks dated on the inside and outside; very 1980's. I was not impressed by the pools. The lobby is beautiful. I went to one of the restaurants, Finn's Grill, which, I only went to because there was a coupon "Buy 1 entree, get the 2nd entree 1/2 price" in the Hilton Passport they hand out when you check in. I was very impressed with the entire dessert and dinner. Wonderful gourment cuisine for $80. The dessert was cheaper and more exquisite than a regular banana split at Baskin Robbins. This meal was better than anything we ate in the 3 days there. I didn't like the food at Wolfgang Puck's & Bongos in Downtown Disney, but Portobello's was acceptable. The other restaurant we ate at was The Royal Castle in the Magic Kingdom, where it was 3 thumbs down, despite how they call it the best table service restaurant in Disney! The snack fridge in the room was ok, because for the summer the prices were half price so this was reasonable. Anyway, we're on vacation only a few times a year, so it's ok to splurge on overpriced goodies especially if you don't have a car to drive to the local supermarket. We even splurge and paid for $10 pay per view movies [3 times]. All in all, it was a wonderful trip not because of the dated and overcrowded Disney parks, but because there was a big selection of places to eat at the hotel and Downtown Disney, which luckily was 5 minute walk away. We also had fun renting a motor boat in the lagoon and watching a movie at the AMC theater. Treasure Island and Finn's Grill made this Hilton a great place to be!
On June 16th I went to Hilton website to make reservations. There were three choices for rooms at this hotel. The Standard Room, the Suites and the Executive Accommodations. The Executive Accommodations included:Enjoy exclusive comfort in our Executive Level Rooms, featuring upgraded amenities and services. You'll also have access to our Executive Lounge. Take advantage of private Concierge services (from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres. Treat yourself to daily, unlimited light snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic drinks only) from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Additionally Executive Level guests enjoy high-speed Internet access and private check-in and checkout services. What's more, these rooms include upgraded bathroom products and plush bathrobes. Based on the information from your website I booked two Executive Accommodations rooms. Conformation number 3162324168.When I arrived at the Hotel on July 2nd 2003, I was assigned two rooms 216 and 217. The rooms have a direct view of the rooms air conditioning units and had none of the above amenities. EX Robes and High Speed Internet access.I went to the front desk who told me he had no other rooms at this time and to check in the morning. Well in the morning they assigned me two new rooms 166 and 167. These rooms again did not have the additional amenities. At this point I did not want to discuss it anymore since my children wanted to do to Disney. Room 167 had a leak and parts of the ceiling fell on the chair. The maid reported this. Two days later they fixed the leak. For being a 4 Star hotel I think you should look into this.
Great Place to stay
Stayed 5/23 to 5/26. Only 2 small negative comments to say about this place. 1st no snack or soda machines on the floors. Instead Hilton desided to put minibars in the room. The was no price guide as to what the items cost in the minibar but I'm sure they were all overpriced. I would have preferred an empty minibar so that I could use it to keep my own snacks and sodas cold for the next day. Even the 24hr snack shop in the lobby was overpriced. So my 2nd negative comment would be about the overpriced minibar and snack shop. I know a lot of travelers prefer to buy their own snacks and store them in the refrigerator for the next day.Other than that it was a great hotel with a great staff and great pool. I would stay again.
I Give this hotel a B
This hotel had all the amenities that a big upscale hotel should have. It was clean and the views were very nice. The location was hard to beat and they had a shuttle bus to the popular theme parks. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and it has a fantastic Jacuzzi. I didn't like the restaurants, however. The Benehana, which is located in the hotel, was nice, but the other restaurants lacked appeal. Overall this is a nice hotel. I wouldn't stay here again, however. The hotel is too big for my tastes.
Loved this hotel
We really enjoyed this hotel. The pool was great and relaxing and the spa tub very tropical. The Benihana restaurant was fun for our whole family. We did use the shuttle and it was smooth a bit lengthy because of other area pick ups. Our room was a little far from the pool. The in room snacks/ refreshments were very overpriced. We drove about a mile to Lake Buena Vista and got our snacks and a small disposable cooler from an area grocer which was much more our price range. Enjoy your trip!!!
Oct/02. With three children & my husband intially at a conference we booked a dlx rm with 2 Qn beds. My husband ends up having to complete a sales deal (meaning that he will be stuck in the room while we're at Disney) so I went down to the front desk and they changed our room to a huge executive with a full dining/conference table, fridge, micro, lounge area and a king murphy bed with down comforter for the same price. For an extra $40, they gave us a connecting rm for my kids. Downstairs, there's a kid-friendly restaurant. My three boys were thourghly entertained by a hired clown in a huge adjoining room. There were movies, tatoos, balloons, and goofy fun. They could either eat with us or have their meal brought into the play room. It was great. The pool was safe and warm and the whole hotel was spotless. We had tower service so breakfast was included and all day snacks. At night there were hot and cold appetizers and milk and cookies before bed. Take advantage of the fridge full of soda, juice and water. Grab some water for the park as you'll need it. This hotel was also across the street from Marketplace and my 2 yr old could walk it. This place in a picky Mom's opinion was an easy 5*!
Previous reviews I read on this hotel commented on how clean it was. That's not what I experienced. Upon checkin I found hair in the bathtub and on the bathroom floor and a used bandage on the floor by the bed. The bandage stayed there for 3 days. One of the water glasses had dried pop in it. The housekeeper had a bad week I guess!
We picked this hotel for the first week of our honeymoon mainly because we didn't want to hire a car - we made the right choice! It's looking a little tired from the outside but has everything you could need. Location is perfect -its within walking distance of downtown Disney, the free shuttle buses are excellent and the rooms are very comfortable. The only negative aspect is that it is pretty expensive to eat and drink in the hotel - but what hotel isn't? It also wouldn't be very suitable for children as there is no "Disney atmosphere" there. I would definitely go back if the rate was right!
