Very big, HUGE, walking distance too far from lobby to your room. Too far from the volcanos. Nice facility though

We awoke in the dark to the iphone alarm at 6am! We drove down past our destination (due to GPS difficulty), and back again to arrive only 1 min late. After a few phone calls and some misunderstandings (that were surprisingly not our fault), we got a guide and wound our way down to the water destination. Our guide, Ola, got us into our kayak …

We drove a little further and had a squiz at Puako Bay, but the weather was ordinary and I was feeling ill, so we headed back to Kona, found our room and crashed for what ended up being a 3.5 hour nap. After the sun had set we got a sneak preview of the sky's many treasures, as the guides had set up the telescope for us to see Jupiter. Later we drove down to a quiet spot where we got some hot drinks and a grand tour of the sky, with the guides pointing out the starsigns, and us peering through the telescope to see Mars, Saturn, new stars, star clusters, stars that have died and a ...

... we took the easy route to Captain Cook: the Fair Wind Cruise. The boat leaves Keauhou bay around 9:00 am; they serve breakfast pastries, quiche, coffee and juice on your way out. Once you arrive, they fit you with snorkel gear and set you loose for 2 hours. This is followed by a BBQ & cocktails before you head back to the bay.

We felt quite pampered being escorted around the island this way after snorkeling the same area last year with ...
