... The Park Ranger was a Red Sox fan and provided some local stories.One was that feral dogs roamed the park area and so in the morning they became noisy. We usually got up early enough to start on trail ahead of the summer heat and the groups that may also be hiking. So any noise was not a hinderance to rest. Early night and up the next day to go skiing at Whiteface. The next morning we walked upto the main street. Sooooo pretty, a couple of inches of snow on everything, all the houses looked spectacular with their broad decks and Christmas wreaths. At the centre of the town is a huge lake, maybe 1km across that is frozen and people were ice skating and dog sledding across it.

... a mixture of snow and sleet and maybe a little rain thrown in the mix. Here, it is so cold that the snow is dry and powdery. It helps that our body heat doesn't make it outside of our clothing so when you get snow on your jeans or jumper it just brushes off. Unfortunately, with all that jumping in the piles of snow, Ryan got snow in his shoes. Almost immediately his feet were freezing. it was so bad that he was on the ground removing his shoes because it hurt so much! Needless to say ...
