    Day fourteen

A travel blog entry by robbie.porter on May 23, 2015

On our way home. After a nice going away dinner with our traveling companions, we retired to our room, made final packing decisions and got about four hours sleep. We were provided a sack breakfast, yogurt, water, apple, sandwich and roll. It was off to the airport at 5:30 am sharp. A half hour drive thru vacant streets to the airport, a long line at the check-in counter, thru security, ...

... continued on and she ended here at mile 137 as well. The day was perfect for hiking. It finally cleared up and the temperature was not too hot, maybe a high of 79 today. Didn't see any fast food on the drive out to Valley Center and ended up getting a Polish dog (the Chicago Dog to be specific) from Pinks and heading to bed well after midnight. Lady at the front desk took forever to check us in but at least we got our friday reservation changed to stay in our non smoking room. They were going to move us to a smoking room because they are booked solid.

On our second day in San Diego we decided to hike up Double Peak mountain not far from where we were staying. It was about a five mile hike up and down the hill and it was hot, around 78F. We made it okay but I learned a valuable lesson that day . When we got back from the hike and were ...

... no trip into the casino area for us-- especially with kids along for the ride. Instead we headed to the nearby Viejas open-air outlook mall. I kept up with the kids who wanted to go in the Fun Zone arcade while Laneshia hit some stores.I did buy some shirts from Nike and I had to grab a freshly made funnel cake before we left. We had dinner at (unfortunately) KFC but we did get to sit in the mall's open courtyard which had a splashy water ...
