Haritagiri Ecotel & Ayurvedic Village Wayanad

... we would have the chance to see some wildlife, and Nagarhole is supposed to be one of the best parks in South India at this time of year. The park is home to 60 tigers, 90 leopards, and many elephants, spotted deer, and monkeys. We would be staying at the CIcada Kibina lodge, and our room was right on the edge of the water.

... travelled around Kerala eating great food ......meeting great people ......enjoying the climate and generally taking it easy .........Jen was in the process of sorting out her next leg of the trip....Her workplace in Kenya and i was researching mine (Doh! - still dont know) so we took it easy .......and enjoyed each others company knowing that we only had a month left before this adventure would see us parting ways.

But beyond this, what fascinated me was this temple in the middle of the jungle. There is a temple guest house which provides very basic stay and there are a few hotels and curio shops. The food at these hotels is pretty average. This is certainly not a place one would want to stay. There are any number of very good hotels in and around Wayanad for the discerning tourist. But the temple visit is highly recommended.

... Nagarhole.

There are two routes from there, one which goes to Gonicoppal and the other which goes through Nagarhole. Two wheeelers are not allowed inside the national park so those who want to bike will have to go to gonikoppal and come to irpu through srimangala.

We went through the national park at around 40Kms per hour hoping to see some wildlife. We were able to see some elephants and deer but not lucky beyond that.

Helda was looking for a crocodile and i am sure they truly were a little scared that a tiger would attack. It felt like a true adventurescape island with them despite all the groups of school children around. We went to some ruins of a temple that had a gargoyle carving and a good Hanuman too. ... within minutes of entering the park (according to the guide, lady luck was now close by our side). Next we noticed tiger prints along the road, which of course made all of hearts skip a beat from the excitement of possibly spotting one of these elusive creatures. ... because hardly there was any other human apart from me, Nick and the guide. I and nick had a great time exploring different kind of birds and capturing them in our cam.
