Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica pamericasSmall village on the main road but Tucan Hotel set back. Not cheap and only 2 showers/toilets shared between up to 4 people in treehouse, 4 in hammocks, multiple others camping plus 12 people in dorms when fully occupied. Female shower/toilet always full of men as bigger - thankfully came when quiet.
Cocked up the directions to the falls, Cascadas Verde & didn't turn left before hardware store. Ended up crossing the river ...
... the Moutain of Death.
The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldn´t go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...
Just a quick blog to keep you up to date
Had to change plans as there was no space at Sirena Ranger Station. Margarita was able to organise alternative route into Corcovado
Got Marvi bus to Sierpe. Stayed in good cabinas and had excellent meal in their restaurant
... a few frogs, which are even cooler. These are about as different from the brown frogs in England as you could imagine - think of the sorts of photos or video of exotic frogs that you might see in nature magazines or documentaries and you're on the right lines. I had always assumed that the colours were enhanced for publication, but I can tell you that no, these rainforest creatures really do look like that!

Jaco, Costa Rica buckets2100... positioned hinself sat at the front of the stage where he was free to add to other peoples performances or disrupt them depending on what charachter he was up against. He had my vote for the entertainment factor, but the dj and a big chunk of the crowd preferred Mr Bling Bling (basically a seventies disco dude with dollar medallion and funky affro, his act consisted of flexing and pointing to people in the crowd, grinning and pointing. He didnt even attempt to dance much). I couldnt help ...
Dominical, Costa Rica soul_surfista... past is obviously interesting and we take the conversation down that road. Before he was successfully diagnosed, he believed for a number of years that he could hear Gods voice. He made a change to a god fearing minister from a tough, heavy rocker dealing with explicit and dark lyrics, on the road with bands and all that comes with it. He no longer played those type of songs and if my hazy memory serves me right he started playing religious music instead. It was only when he was ...
Playa Jaco, Costa Rica soul_surfista... in the boonies you are or in how beat up the bus is; if there are paying passengers, there are hungry countryman, and the vendors are working. As we approach Matagalapa, we pass a few organic coffee coops. We get to the terminal and have to catch a taxi across town to the next terminal. It seems each town has a road in and a road out. And if you are not a local bus running around the city, you don't get to pass through. So to pass through, you taxi across ...
