Historical Traveler Reviews of Hamaca Coral By Hilton - All Inclusive Santo Domingo
Horrible
from A TripAdvisor Member
We had made plans to go to the Dominican Republic for more than five months. My son, thirteen years old, was invited through the International Sports Association. When we arrived the room was flooded the bathroom was dirty. They were kind enough to get us another room. But even though we were four they supplied us with one king size bed and a cot. My son has also lost the braclet that they was given him and was detained for over twenty minutes. No one made an attempt to contact me at the pool. (My son does not speak spanish, so communication with security was null). This hotel is located in the middle of poverty. It was very difficult to enjoy yourself with the children begging for money over the wall. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else.
Not at all what your travel agent claims it to be.

Just returned from a long awaited week long vacation at the Coral Hamaca Beach Resort & Casino. It was more than just a little disappointing. Many of the activities posted on the website of this so called five star (not even close to that rating) resort as "free" and "included" are definitely not and when brought to the attention of the staff you are just given blank stares.
Check-in is a nightmare. It took us approximately two hours and were then told to come back at 3:00 p.m. to pick-up keys to again wait on the same long line.
If you don't speak the language, your in trouble. Very few speak english, making communication extremely difficult. This becomes very frightening when your requesting security to your room in the middle of the night because someone is trying your door and the person on the other end of the phone tells you that you need to wait and then hangs up on you.
Definitely not a place I would recommend. Spend your American Dollars somewhere else.
Loud, Loud, Loud

This is the LOUDETS place I've ever stayed in my life and it was awful!! All rooms face the ocean and starting at 9am the hotel staff have "acticvities" on the beach accompanied by an over-the-top loud speaker system with looped tape music. Not merengue, either. Idiot techno & house music interrupted ever few minutes by the Loony Tunes theme. This stops for 2 hours from 1p-3p and then gears right up again at full volume. Your time on the beach is NOT quiet and relaxing, you can't take a nap (except from 1-3pm). It's unbearable. Further, we went to the lovely Mexican restaurant fro dinner which is open-aired and faces a pool. Well, on the weekends all of the world owns timeshares by the pool and hundreds of 20 somethings descend on the pool with each of their boom boxes playing full blast yet different music. We changed our seats at the restaurant but, there was no escaping the noise at all. I bought earplugs but they didn't help. I would NEVER retunr to this resort. Luckily, I must have been giving off a negative vibe so we were never bothered by the MANY employees pacing the beach with clipboards in hand trying to sell things to guests. RUN AWAY...spend a little more & go someplace else!!!!
Not All Inclusive, Go Elsewhere!

I just returned from a 5 day stay at the Coral Hamaca for memorial day weekend and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. First off saying that it's an "all inclusive" is very misleading. As the previous reviews state the food was horrible. The only thing that they have 24 hrs is hamburgers and french fries. You only get one choice of beer and it is tap. There is no top line liquors or bottled beer. Of course you can get bottled beer but you have to pay for it. There is one restaurant one the grounds, The Pelicano, that is very good, but it's costly. Dinner two nights with a bottle of wine was 150.00 US dollars. The rooms were nice and clean and it was relaxing..I did manage to have a great time because I was with my b/f and my girlfriend and her fiance. But it did cost us an additonal 500 dollars just to eat out twice, and buy some bottled wine to drink since their house wine was disgusting. Save yourself money and go with a more expensive all inclusive..The Paradisius in Punta Cana comes very highly rated. And for the few extra hundred it would be well worth it.
What a Dump!!!!!!

The food was next to ineatible, the service was marginal. The best feature was the accomondation, the room was large and clean. Some members of the staff harrassed my 18 yr. old niece which is inappropriate!!!!! Asking her togo out for drinks, she never left our side!I couldn't even eat the barbequed chicken which some former reviewers survived on!!!!!! Spend a little more money and go somewhere else! The worst excurson ever is the 2 hr horsebacking trip where the native children screamed"Die Americans" at us when we rode throught the slums of Boca Chica.Save your money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be very careful at the hamaca

not a bad resort, but maybe a little too pushy of a staff, looking for guests to participate in their paid activities and vacation club promotions. WE'RE ON VACATION!! LEAVE US ALONE!!
most importantly, do NOT go in the casino if youre inexperienced. the staff will take advatange of you. my wife and i were lured into a suspicious game of KENO with free chips that in the end, cost us money in the thousands. though ABSOLUTELY responsible for our actions, i will additionally say that the dealers worked without any scruples whatsoever, encouraging players to use credit cards and "selling" them over their heads within minutes. later in our stay at the coral hamaca, we found that numerous other american vacationers were taken for amounts similar to ours.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND VISIT AC OR VEGAS FOR GAMBLING VACATIONS, NOT HERE AT THE CORAL HAMACA. IN FACT, MAYBE JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ALTOGETHER.
Do not go to the Coral Hamaca in Santa Domingo

The food was terrible. The service was fair at best. Some of the employees were helpfull and pleasant, but most were cold and indifferent. Many activities that were listed as included on the web site ended up costing extra. Activities that are "free" are no more that a sales pitch to take "full lesson", for more money. Watch out for the sales pitch to buy timeshares. Friends that we went with were promised a polo shirt for sitting in on a presentation. When they did not buy, they were told that they ran out of shirts!
This resort is not a true all inclusive. Several of the restaurants cost additional. The "free" restaurants charge for different beer and wine. They also have a pay menu (if you don't like what they are seving) If the food that you pay for is anything like the included food, you will be in for a big disappointment.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone...
Find another place to spend your hard earned money!
Is This An All Inclusive ???????

My wife and I just got back from 9 days at Corral Hamaca Beach & Casino. First let me tell you the place was very clean (property) and the people were very friendly. All of the room ammenities were not in your room ( mini bar, hair dryer, had to call fotr towels, soap hair dryer and bottled water because there's a sign on the mirror that says don't drink the water. Try brushing your teeth every day with bottled water .I wouldn't go back, the food was horrible and it wasn't really an all inclusive. When you go to the Italian & Mexican Rest. 2 of the speciatly resteraunts on the property and they tell you if you don't like the free menu food perhaps you would like to see the pay as you go menu that's not all inclusive. There are two other resteraunts on the property that are only pay as you go but guess what after talking to several people who went don't bother that food was equally as bad there. When you wan't another type beer and you have to pay for it that's not an all inclusive. The food that they did have was horrible one night I had a bowl of fruit loops for dinner . If it hadn't been for the BBQ chicken at the pool snack bar a lot of people wouldn't have eaten. Many people were leaving their whole meals on the plates or playing with the food so it looked like they ate it. If you like to eat and enjoy good food don't go here. Do yourself a favor and find another resort area. All I can say is I did get to relax, the trip is over and my clothes fit a little better.
