... surface, flipping their tails in only brief moment. However, it was a very neat moment and so unexpected. To think that they passed only 10 feet under our keel! Antigua - Our arrival in Nelson's Harbour couldn't have been timed worse as a regatta was just finishing and the boats were all entering the harbour and dropping the anchor simultaneously. This wouldn't have been so bad had they not all been bareboat charterers wreaking havoc. One boat went astern so close to us they ...
Saint Martin, Antigua and Barbuda on-oncruising... pointed out to us, apparently he's done an awful lot for the islanders and is held in high regard; one of the many things he's done is to build a rehab centre to help locals deal with their addictions. From there we went to the Betty's Hope Sugar Plantation for a Caribbean style buffet lunch, which was just amazing, Creole chicken, rice, salads, dressings, fruit bread, rum punch, fruit, after 2 large glasses of punch a couple of ...

Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda momentsintimeToday we arrived in St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda. We debarked the ship and walked a bit until we reached what seemed to be some sort of plaza, where a local was balancing a pineapple on her head while grooving to music, hoping to make a few dollars off of us tourists. Later in the day, we took a tour of the island and saw two gorgeous beaches: Dickinson and Runaway.<br>
St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda ashleylutt... other people just decided to return to swimming despite the sheets of rain that kept falling. When the rain finally stopped and the sun returned, everybody just went back to lounging, drinking, swimming, and just enjoying another picture perfect Caribbean beach. After being served a delicious lunch, It was time to return to the van for the return trip back to the port. Once there, we had a few hours to kill before the ship departed so we decided to do some shopping ...
St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda royv1... labels and boarding passes from another airline and fills em in with her biro. Oh yes, a cheap flight. Its a little plane made of wood. Not really, but you get the idea. We chugged up and over Antigua and bumped along until Guadeloupe, where we had to have a stop over, 30 minutes into the flight. We landed and got off, as you do. We even asked a Airport woman with a radio if we were cool for the Dominica flight. She said yes and clucked a bit ...
St John's, Antigua and Barbuda chrisandtess... north. The islands of Antigua (pronounced An - tee - gah) and Barbuda (Bar - bew - dah) are a nation unto themselves. The official language is English, but sometimes you could hardly tell. When the natives speak among themselves, they use a pigeon-English, fortunately slowing it down for us poor tourons. Barbuda is even smaller than Antigua - boasting around 1500 people. The beach upon which we anchored was practically ...

They were even more impressive lit up at night when we dinghied back in for a wonderful dinner at La Route des Boucaniers on the waterfront. Al and I knew were delighted we would return the following week. We had an easy sail from St. Barts with a stop for fuel at Bobby's Marina in Phillipsburg and on to Marigot. Rich and Anne departed the next day and my brother ...
