    Of the two existing teachers one has only been here since April and the other may as well be a secret fugitive of the Italian Mob with her Mafia and million dollar divorce stories.     Virtually all the way south from Madrid to the Mediterranean sea, a
    considerable distance let me tell you, is devoted to growing olives. Now I like
    a virgin as much as the next bloke, but how much virgin olive oil does the
    planet need? This is Europe’s version of a palm oil plantation. Olive farming
    is monoculture on an industrial scale that has eliminated all the native flora

    I thought the end was nigh when I went to collect my NIE; the number you need to stay in Spain that I'd applied for over a week ago. The same smug woman from the week before, who'd been so disgusted at the idea that I was taking a teensy slither of the very humble Spanish employment pie, seemed to take great pleasure in telling me that I needed to get my NIE in Valencia and not in Murcia because I'd given a Valencia address.
