The villas on the beach are great. The hotel outdated and in for renovation. However, friendly staff, good bar, good restaurant and a marvelous location.

Great place unless you have a problem

This is a nice resort and good value for your money but the boss could learn a thing about customer service. We had a fan that was inadequate for our room, while our friend had two extremely powerful fans in his room. Complaining was simply frustrating as the owner could really care less about your comfort.

... sort of training on Koh Tao and never left, I now understand why. The diving around Koh Tao is just a plentiful as it is beautiful.

The open water course is a 4-day course with either SSI (scuba schools international) or PADI (professional association of diving instructors). The first day for me consisted of a couple informative videos, and a textbook with a packet of questions to complete. The second day was a couple more videos in the ...

... at the bottom of a pool while a class of 7 goes through the basics of scuba... While definitely useful and required, can you say popsicle? Despite the icicle status (in a wetsuit I might add), I practiced losing and finding my regulator (important as that's what you breath out of), filling and clearing my mask (important to be able to see), taking off and putting back on both the weight belt and SCUBA apparatus, and starting to practice underwater push-ups. Now this last one ...

... Danielle, Maria and Laura. They were all from London and had been travelling around south east Asia together. Luckily, they were heading to the same area, Haad Rin and therefore, we all decided to stay in the same hostel. When we arrived on the island, we were very surprised to discover that it was completely dead. It presented itself as a ghost town with only a few local residents milling around, doing chores but pausing to look up at the expectant foreigners carrying ...

... away when one attempted to group by nether regions. From Sumui we then headed to the crazy, busy and bustling Full Moon Party back on Phangan. Although it has became a bit infamous, the party really is fantastic and as long as you don't get wrecked, you can only have a great time! Here we met again with lots of our friends from the previous tour and stayed until about 2AM before getting the boat back to Ko Sumui for our early departure to Malaysia at 6AM- ...

... there was no water in it whilst breathing normally. (Easier said than done, believe me). I managed all of the above and wasn't feeling too bad. The next stage was to fill the mask up completely so you couldn't see and then clear it still whilst keeping a normal breathing rhythm. In order to clear your mask you have to tip your head back, press on the top of your mask and breathe out through your nose all whilst keeping your breathing steady. I tried and tried to do this ...
