          Puerto del Rosario

I decided a night in Puerto del Rosario might be good for a change of scene and I had an early flight in the morning. I probably should have listened more to what I'd been told, it's more industrial and not so enjoyable. Still it was a transit stop that helped me get to the airport in plenty of time, the bus being much more efficient than I'd expected.

Landing at the airport I quickly found that they only had one ATM and it was out of order and there was nowhere to exchange cash. So rather than getting the bus I was lumped with a taxi.

It was a small bump in what was a chilled five days in the little town of Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands. It's a kiteboarding and surfing paradise so not quite my cup of tea but I really enjoyed the laid back vibe ...

Feliz Cumpleaņos a mi and its a warm 28 degree day! Nursing a sangria hangover we have a delicious cooked breakfast before jumping on the 9am bus from Playa Bastian to the inland Teguise markets - the oldest in Lanzarote. Here we find 100's of stalls selling everything from toe rings and cactus muffins to 'genuine' fake handbags. After half an hour we've seen most of it but have another 2.5 ...

... large, a second table was required, just for the plate! Rolling our bellies down the hill, we head to the Island Bar, for a live music night. The owner Cara and her husband Rory, are friends with my cousin, and Rory has us clapping and cheering all night long with his very entertaining music. We met the coolest taxi driver on the ride home, who complemented my (drunken) Spanish, and told us how the water, electricity and petrol plants are side-by-side, so if one goes... they all do!
