THe BAHAMAS - stunningly beautiful, but after clear water, beautiful beaches, great snorkelling, there is not much to do, the islands have been taken over by the Americans and sanitized
no more beach bar shacks - now plush bar restaurants
no more tiny fruit shops - all shopping plazas
no walking everyone takes taxis
its still beautiful but its not like the real caribbean -its almost boring !!

Clint, our neighbor insisted that we try staying at a marina once we completed out Atlantic passage. Huh? The Koplins at a marina? Why would we bring a dinghy, solar power, water maker and anchor, just to dock at a marina? We've never done it.

... mode right now, biding our time between searching out our next meal, the pool, and the beach. The snorkeling here has been within walking distance again and fairly good. There are many private residences along the beach, so it is usually deserted. Nice for us.

... fascinating and held us captive all afternoon. We hunt for crabs and conch and marvel at the mangroves taking root along the shore. The mangroves send out shoots in perfectly straight lines that look like sentinels. We are sure that next year this year this area will look much different as the mangroves take hold.
