60th Birthday on the Ocean

... my sea legs. Even now, this late at night, the boat is starting to weave again making it hard to write this.

Started the day with breakfast buffet at the Windjammer Café. Very impressive spread. Jess and I went to the pasta demonstration while Dan and Jarod went to find the table tennis and go rock climbing. Apparently Jarod only made it half way up the wall, but I intend to encourage him to try again when Jess and I try it later this week. The four of us got ...

Stingray Welcome

On our way to the island tour, we were welcomed by a friendly stingray and gave us the experience of being suctioned by its mouth as we tried to feed him. But then, he realized that we don't have any food for him so eventually, he left but gave us the knowledge of not fearing them. They are gentle creatures of the sea.

Shark Feeding

A different kind of experience... feeding shark in broad daylight.....shoreside.....

Free port has one at Pier One, but you are like so high above the waters and in the evening. So all you are seeing are but splashes made by the shark as they feed.

Here, you will see the entire length of the shark under the very crystal clear waters, just one meter high.

BOND....JAMES BOND

We had the pleasure of sailing for a few days with some new friends on another cat "O'VIVE" and with their local knowledge, managed to anchor on a spotless sandbank right outside the famous Thunderball Cave at Staniel Cay. We had no idea what this was all about but many people we met told us to come here to have a look at this cave. So for a bit of background, they made a James Bond movie in 1964 (well before my time) called Thunderball. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club has photos of a very ...

... and rocks into the anchorages behind the island. So with a 7 - 8ft sea behind us, a series of large rocks and reefs in front with a narrow dog leg entrance and no assistance on the radio we cautiously and for my part very nervously made our way into Elizabeth Harbour. When the first wave tried to broach us and all I could see was a very large angry looking rock to our port I decided that this was way to tense and scary for me and headed downstairs to be comforted by Harri ...

Prince Phillip aboard his vessel for a sail in the Tida Wave. Capt Gray passed away at the age of 85 this past February. The village is small. We heard that the boat had not come in yet with fresh foods, so the ...

Bonefishing on the fly is exceptional in Pigeon Creek, and also in Smith Bay to the South and Orange Creek to the North. ... fearing that I had fallen into one of the collossal tumble dryers or something ! ) So I went to where you get the tender ticketand the place was absolutely rammed. I figured I would be there an hour or more ( if I waited my turn ! ) Now, it has occurredto me before now that these cruise ships rely heavily on the herd effect and that there are absolutely no anarchists in the ranks. I went down the stairs where you get on the tenders , tagging along onto the ...

... idea Dan!!! (Hi you two if you are reading! and thanks for a lovely stay) We discovered that the apartments were very well named as we walked to Governor's Harbor on the first night... there really are birds chuckling away to each other as we made our way to check out the weekly BBQ, which was as close as Eleuthera gets to a local nightclub! The evening was fantastic... we sat drinking "Kalik" beers with the sun setting behind us. While we chilled out we ...
