Historical Traveler Reviews Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa Henderson
Nice very un-Vegas resort
Lovely place inside and out. Even the casino is clean and the food court is great with 6 restaurants-at least 2 above average (sushi and buffet). Rooms are very large and very elegant. Great pool area and wonderfull spa. Truly a sophisticated resort, not cheap tough by Vegas standard. Also they are expanding and will be adding more rooms and a shopping mall next door pretty soon. Only drawback (for us and other definitely a plus), it is good 15 min ride to the Strip and it will cost you $25 cab ride every way. Will not stay a secret for too long.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Green Valley Ranch in late August. We usually travel to Vegas 2-3 times a year. Having stayed at a few of th 4+ star hotels on the Strip, Green Valley Ranch is a breath of fresh air! The decor is classic and not overpowering, the staff was very accomodating and the customer service was outstanding...Everyone we encountered not only remembered our name, but always went the extra mile to ensure that we were comfortable. This is quite a stretch from the larger, luxury hotels on the Strip. Now for the accolades: The casino was ok. Though I'm not a slot player, I actually won here...never won more than $100 on the Strip! BullShrimp was delicious and there was no wait on a Friday evening (very surprising). The food and entertainment at Whiskey Beach one evening was outstanding. I loved the cabana and misters. If you aren't a frugal spender, please indulge in the spa...it's worth it. Last but not least, the room appointments and the bedding is the very reason why I will make Green Valley my first choice when I return this fall. There are very few hotels (other than some Westin Resorts) that offer down comforters and pillows on a PREMIUM mattress. You begin to remember what you've been missing when you're away from home. The recommendations are: Get a mountain view room or Suite, if available. The weekly jazz and weekend entertainment can be a little noisy at times. Though the Strip view is an upgrade, the mountain view room is MUCH better! I would like there to be more shopping or eating facilities in close proximity for non-Vegas drivers (I was told that the new construction adjacent to the facility will address this issue). This place is great for relaxation, but not enough activities for 'play'. More feasible times for the Strip shuttle...we were forgotten in one of the late shuttle pickups (though they were extremely apologetic). If you are a Vegas regular or you're looking for a change of pace, then this is the place for you; If you thrive on the action of the Strip, stay on the Strip. Green Valley has distinguished quality from quantity.
Exceptional Service at Green Valley Ranch
I recently stayed at Green Valley Ranch Casino Resort in Henderson, NV. This facility from the interior to the exterior is stunning. The thing I remember the most is the exceptional customer service I received while there. It reminds me of how customer service use to be, in days gone by. My room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a resort with world class service.
A very good standard hotel
We stayed at Green Valley for two weeks this August. The hotel is a upscale 4-star, the rooms are very nicely decorated with the most comfortable beds that we have ever slept in.You can pay a supplement for a Strip view room which does give a nice distant view of the Strip, but beware, these rooms also overlook the pool and on certain nights with pool parties and the nightclub to one end suffer from very very extreme bass music noise. Therefore, if you have children or don't like noise you would be better off in a mountainview room which are furnished exactly the same as the Strip view rooms, but are situated on the other side of the hotel and as such away from any noise. The staff are all very courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet is superb value Monday thru Thursday, as is the lunch or dinner buffet. At weekends these are replaced by the brunch buffets which are quite a bit more expensive than the weekdays. There are a number of different restaurants to choose from, however, our favourite was Trophys, good food, good value. The pool is lovely as is the general decor throughout the entire hotel. The hotel is very clean throughout. There is a complimentary hotel shuttle to and from the Strip which was an advantage to us, given that we are non-drivers. Timings are not as frequent as we would have liked, but at least we had a shuttle to use. It would be a good idea for a shuttle also to run to the shopping malls, just to keep the ladies happy, but maybe somebody from the hotel will read this and act upon this suggestion. From experience, there is always something to criticise, but overall, we were delighted with our stay. So much so that we stayed for an additional two nights and cancelled our booking at the Venetian! For the two extra nights we paid for a Grand Suite, but although it had only that day been completely redecorated, we found the decor very dark and with small windows not letting a lot of light it was not to our liking anywhere near as much as the standard sized rooms that we wrere previously in.If only for the noise from the Pool/Strip facing room, we would have given this hotel TOP marks. The hotel really should do something about the problem and should be more upfront about the noise in advance at check-in. At least that way you can have the option of a different facing room. One can only wonder why it wasn't mentioned to us when we checked in. The nice gentleman on the front desk informed me that he was going to ''upgrade my room'' from a mountain-view room to a Strip-view Room at no extra cost. What I didn't know that he was upgrading me from a quiet room to a noisy room at certain times in the evenings on certain days, albeit only for two or three hours. If I had known in advance; instead of thinking that I was getting something for nothing, my reply would have been: ''Thanks but NO THANKS!''I know that there are a few gripes in the above. However, overall, we would definitely go back there again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high standard of service, accommodation and food!
Great buffet and wonderful casino
We spent 5 days in Las Vegas on the strip and juwst 7 hours at the Green Valley Ranch. If we only knew about this place sooner, we would have spent 7 hours on the strip and 5 days at Green Valley. The place is friendly, warm and fun. We are staying there in November and will become regulars.
Beautiful, clean, convenient
Had business on the strip but after reading reviews, decided to give this place a try and we are glad we did. GVR is beautiful, clean and small enough to allow for easy walking access from room to pool, casino and restaurants. Access to strip is only 10-15 minutes. GVR is situated on highway, so it is easy to jump on and off. Arrived several hours before check-in time and as expected, room was not ready. Staff offered to contact us via phone when room was ready, and not long thereafter, Marcel notified us of such. Room was Deluxe Guest Room (standard) with Strip view, although we were only on 2nd floor (Room 2009) and trees did obscure some of the view. But this room was just a few paces from entry to the casino and restaurant areas and this would prove very convenient. Would choose this section of hotel again, maybe even 3rd floor. Pool grounds were wonderful and very picturesque. Rented a cabana for a day. The cabana can seat 4-5 people, has mist'ers for cooling down, a TV with remote, lounges next to pool for exclusive use of cabana occupants. Water and fruit basket were provided. Strawberries were not very appetizing in appearance and should never have been served, quite frankly. Our hostesses Katie and Patti were very nice and attentive. The frozen margaritas did leave a little to be desired, but it was hot and they were cold, so what the heck. The Feast for breakfast, lunch and dinner is great, along with the other restaurants on premises. No walking thru casino to get to registration, which is nice for non-smokers. I highly rate this property based on location, size, ease of strip acess, friendliness of courteous staff and cleanliness of accommodations and grounds. Thanks, GVR!
I only stayed one night at Green Valley Ranch and that was one night
too many. From the second we walked in the people were so snobby and
pretentious. The front desk agent was a witch, who at 5pm would still
not check us into our room (check in time is at 3pm), as she simply
stated that they were behind... She told us to come back an hour later,
no apologies for the wait, no nothing. So we came back an hour later
and by 6pm the room was still not ready. They checked us into a smoking
room, when we had requested a non smoking room, but we took it anyway
because god only knows when the actual room would be ready. We had
dinner at the Italian restaurant in the hotel and the server was
rolling her eyes and making unkind faces behind her guests. I guess she
must of thought she was invisible to the other people sitting there
watching her. We went to gamble afterwards where the dealer was
unfriendly, witchy, and all together unpleasant. Which brings us to the
infamous bitboss. Whatta ***... Is every employee in there trained to
have a stick up their ***? The most important lesson that I have
learned from my horrible 18 hour experience at this god awful "resort"
was to never stray from the Las Vegas Strip ever again.
We knew as soon as we pulled up that this was going to be a great resort. It was very clean, friendly, beautiful and comfortable. The room was gorgeous, the bed was soooo comfortable, the staff was very helpful, the buffett was good, and the desserts were delicious. We did well at the slots (better than we did in downtown Vegas). Since it is in Henderson, not as busy as the strip. Nice change of pace than the strip. Would love to go back. Would recommend to anybody wanting a great place to stay.
Best hotel in the city is Green Valley Ranch
Hands down the best hotel in vegas. Many celebrites were in whiskey sky when i was staying there. Best hotel service ever, the concierge and bellman work very well together and the concierge are very knowledgeable. Pool area is beautiful and a nice change.
Maybe next time!
The decor in this casino/hotel is beautiful! I have stayed on the strip many times and think this small resort could be a strong rival. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever encountered in a hotel. The bathroom was large and unique (the tiles were lovely). The casino is frequented more by locals or those who are tired of the crowded strip hotels. The result was a larger choice and a quieter gambling experience. The front door and desk staff are friendly and professional. The housekeeping staff merit special mention. There are no maid or room service carts left in the halls (as seen in many upscale hotels on the strip). The turndown service every evening replenished personal items, towels, etc.
Now for the less than outstanding points. Conceirge needs alot of work. We requested dinner reservations on two separate occasions which were not made - it took a total of five reminders. In addition, we asked for directions to another hotel and were directed to the wrong hotel clear across town. The pool facility is less than outstanding. Pool service was slow - first request took 30 minutes, then 15 minutes later, they came to inform me they did not have Bloody Mary mix (total 45 minutes later)? The management did try to make amends by providing a cabana for the week.
I would recommend this resort to those with a car. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the strip. It is ideal for those who are trying to avoid a large crowd. Overall a beautiful facility with a couple of service "bugs" to work out. I plan to stay at Green Valley again in December and hope all is resolved.
