After a bus from Mission Beach to Townsville, a one hour wait at the port, a 20 minute ferry and another bus we finally made it to our hostel on Magnetic Island on Sunday 5th. Magnetic Island, as it's name would suggest, isn't actually Magnetic; apparently when it was discovered it caused a change in the magnetic compass and therefore was named after that - you learn something new everyday hey! So when it came to actually leaving mission beach, I ended up staying ANOTHER night with the gang but it was good, I ended up spending too much time on the Saturday going to the market and enjoying the sunshine, that by the time the car was packed it was already 4:30pm so ended up staying one more night and heading off in the morning to Townsville.

The plan was only to stop by in a place called Alligator Creek south of Townsville, ...

... route I did realise it was a nudist beach from a couple of signs! When I arrived there was only a handful of people on the beach so it was very private and relaxed. They all congregated at one end so I sat at the other on the rocks and had a quick dip in the sea, which was as flat as a pancake, really chilled! Trekked back to meet the girls and we bought some food for a BBQ on the beach, free public ...
