While studying abroad in Sydney, some mates and I went down to the
wineries for the day. I must say this is the stand out winery that we
went to. Everyone was helpful, and the wine was fantastic. I bought my
parents' some bottles to send home. And the dessert wine I had was the
best ever. This winery is highly recommended, I haven't been to a
better one since.
... we had successfully located the subway and set ourselves up nicely for a day of drinking. We headed two hours up the coast and in to the valleys, Tom sweating at the thought of having to use a Rough Guide map instead of a sat nav (not to mention the Rough Guide was 6 years old!). But needless to day just as Guns managed to navigate us out through the one way system and out of Sydney without any map at all, we also managed to follow the big green road signs ...
... the journey through to the Hume Highway was reminiscent of our journeys on freeways in the UK!!! Mad traffic and bumper to bumper. Several hours later it was lovely to hit the Hume.

... Fort Scratchley. As you’d expect, Fort Scratchley is mounted up on a hill overlooking the harbor. There are nice views for all 360 degrees. Unfortunately the fort was closed, so we don’t know it’s official history. It was probably built to fend off the Russians during the Crimean War in the 1800s. Isn’t it odd to think that Russia was a threat to Australia in those days.
