Peninsula Papagayo Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, 2696-0000
Once again, we find ourselves at a Four Seasons Resort. For those of you who have experienced the Four Seasons...you understand why. Beautiful resort, great food, unbeatable service! The resort actually sits between two bodies of water, providing great views from all sides! It's also worth just taking a ride around the golf course in the evevning to see the sunset. The guys played golf and also played with the monkeys in the tree overhead! We took advantage of the ziplining experience even th...

... park. We followed, along with everyone else, until they reached a rec hall where they were set to perform a little later; we figured that their mini-parade was to get people to come to the show. The fire throwers were extremely talented as were the band members..it looked like they all thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the group. I snapped some photos, as you can see, but they came out slightly blurry. On our way back to the Hell-tell, we stopped outside of the ...
Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica jeridolp... dorm. There was hardly
enough space to turn around in between the two bunk beds and it was
crawling with bugs- little gnat-like things as well as spiders,
mosquitoes and I¨m sure other creatures that we didn´t even get a
chance to see. Yuck. I just want to point out that this is not an exaggeration ...
Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica farrahfig... hard a couple of times while i have been in the field...which, as is not tough to imagine, makes seeing monkeys high up in the trees, extremely difficult. It is a big fear to loose your group of monkeys, and this happens often in the rain. The monkeys have a pesky habit of not staying in one place! Many animals tend to hunker down in heavy rain...but unless it is verrrrry bad, capuchins will usually continue to travel all ...
Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica trekkinreid... wondering about us. We asked permission to park for the night and the nice guard pointed to a level spot. Later in the evening a couple of groups of tourists arrived to do the guided night walk through the reserve. Clad in rubber boots and rain capes they go off into the mist with either a spanish speaking guide or an english speaking one. We have had a long day and after a meal we crawl into our comfortable bed and sleep with the critters.
Monteverde, Costa Rica ddgfraser... suspiciously above Catharine. Catharine suggests moving, but I am really enjoying my breakfast (and shoot, I wasn't the one peed on) and suggest that she just consider it good luck and get a new plate of food. I continue happily consuming my bacon, eggs and fruit. That is, until our lizard friend in the tree decided to "let go" number two on our breakfast table. At that point, Catharine described me as "getting vertical" as I jumped up and ran ...
Playas del Coco, Costa Rica moppet77... for only 8 dollars. It was tiny though, reminded me of a prison cell. There isn't much to do in Liberia, I was there to catch my flight the next day. Had a nice chat with the cab driver though, first nice one I met on the entire trip!
Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica alifebeinglived... Tati-esque chaos the single stamp-dispensing machine broke down. We were stuck behind them for 20 minutes and at the end Al really needed a beer and I had nearly lost my will to live! For dinner we went to a rather hip place called the Lava Lounge which I thoroughly recommend for its innovative take on local ingredients and nice vibe. The town boasts two hot pool complexes with water heated by volcanic activity. We went to the less flash one ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica panzaverde... beach town on the Pacific coast. Here we visited some waterfalls, one of which dropped about 70 feet. We swam underneath the waterfall and jumped through a few times, but it was hard to get to because the force of the water kept pushing us away. We also visited a long beach which was nearly deserted. There were only a few other people on it, and some people riding horses across it. Finally, we went to Turrialba, which is one of the world´s ...
Ida San Luis, Costa Rica joeleeis... anywhere. Ended up paying bus station an exorbitant rate to hold our bags for three hours. We hit the beach but the sand flies were bothering me more than Collins! It`s funny, I slag off the LP bible any chance I get and, in some ways, I`m highly reliant on it. Because they didn`t mention the sand flies on the beach, I didn`t bring repellent. Mistake. But the beach itself was lovely and I`m happy to report that there was no litter present ...
