    Day 32. Friday 26 June 2015
Today we visited an underground iron Mine at Soudan. Interesting tour. We went down on the lift about half a mile and went on a train on the old ore train track. It closed in 1962 and was supposed to be a safe mine. the original workers were paid 3 times the rate to entice them there. they had to supply all their own tools and were paid piecework - the amount of ore that they dug out. We went 350 miles today. Not bad for not starting until after 1. We are Freedom Camping tonight.

We are looking ahead for tomorrow. Have a National Park in sight. That will be one more off our list.

Hope they let us into ...

... br> We watched them getting fed by hand and learned a little bit about their habits and almost extinction due to bounties on their heads which were in place up until the 1950's. They looked like big dogs and the most interesting thing for me was the family tree that showed how many popular breeds of domestic dogs came into being, all of which originated with the wolf.

Not a bad way to spend a rainy day.

    ... in car feed.

Our destination being the town of Ely, which sits on the edge of an area called Boundary Waters, a series of lakes that are great for canoeing and spotting wildlife as well as serving as the border between the US and Canada.

It was in the high 50's when we arrived and raining, so no outdoor activities for us today. Headed off to the local steakhouse for some cow.
