      ... row. Amazingly, we're only about a hundred yards from the Costco Warehouse. Such a deal!


      In thinking, I've omitted the fact that US 50 runs somewhat along the old route of the Pony Express. Not much is left of any of it, but signs point out when you're driving close to the trail.

      ... meal deal with a drink and bag of crisps very cheaply with a Safeway loyalty card. With our shopping complete we went to the beach and settled into a spot under a tree where we could keep some shade until mid afternoon, if we needed the shade.
      For the rest of the day Ruth and I read books, relaxed and when we got too hot went in the lake for a dip. JJ built a water hole and then caught crayfish to put in it. In fact JJ built two such ponds ...

      Emma and Taya wander around in the water people watching. We can walk out for miles before it gets too deep to stand. Fascinating viewing. The boys return, and we all get back into the water.

      Time to head home comes around too quickly, but we are delighted we got to see a snippet of Lake Tahoe, and we all enjoyed our beach day. Not so excited to arrive back at our campsite which Rich thinks looks like a Tesco's car park.

      ... to the CBC for an unforgettable night that I don't really remember. I tear up now as I write about this place that is so special to me sometimes wondering why I would be leaving.
