There follows a long section where the path traverses a desert of black volcanic rock and sand. It is fairly featureless and after a while a little boring. Occasionally however the black tedium is punctuated by jagged obsidian hills rising out of the plain, covered with lime-green moss, looking to me like the reptilian skin of a sleeping giant dragon, a slumbering saurian waiting to be roused. Emma and Taya wander around in the water people watching. We can walk out for miles before it gets too deep to stand. Fascinating viewing. The boys return, and we all get back into the water.
Time to head home comes around too quickly, but we are delighted we got to see a snippet of Lake Tahoe, and we all enjoyed our beach day. Not so excited to arrive back at our campsite which Rich thinks looks like a Tesco's car park.

But it is time for me to embark on my worldly adventures and I can not thank everyone enough for making my time there so unbelievable. I will soon return with many great stories and pictures!!
