64 Moo 10 Ban Hua Nam Mae Sakut, T. Pha Bong / A. Muang Mae Hong Son, Thailand, 58000

This time we have time to walk to the river and look in a couple stores before the bus leaves. I have breakfast downstairs and take some pictures of the gnome next to the artwork downstairs. The manager turns the indoor fountain on for me to look at and walks out. The restaurant has a collection of art pieces and murals. A few of them remind me of works I've seen before. Most of them are Western art. I can't quite get a good angle to picture the gnome with a painting of the Thai king. The man...
Mae Hon Son, Thailand dirtyleeI get up for breakfast and a little of the goodbye sadness sets in. The village gathers to see us go, but says little. We bump crazily down the road and come to the first village, which I find out is called Naam Huu. They make natural herbs here. I carve half of an alien fruit and the locals serve us a delicious dish made of pumpkin. Funny considering the day. On the road down, ducking beneath overhanging branches and spiky bamboo flowers, we can see the vista that had been obscured by dark b...
Naam Huu, Thailand dirtyleeIt's been a busy and tiring past few days in tribe country, and it's taken a toll on my body. We walked into Pai during the day to do various errands, and Karen and I spotted a hot guy getting a massage inside a street-side parlour. So we went in, of course, partly because we wanted to get our first Thai massages up north and partly because I wanted to further ogle this hot backpacker who had his shirt off (I'm shameless, as always). That notion quickly became obsolete as we were whisked off ...
Mae Hong Son, Thailand djbenharveyOur journey to Mae Hong Son took us up and over two ranges of mountains as we headed northwest from Thaton. The road winds it way around 1864 curves through the town of Pai and onward to MHS. Travelling this road is an experience one lives to "brag" about...not unlike living in -40 degree weather. It wasn't exactly fun or pleasant, but it was something that we'll brag about for some time to come. Mae Hong Son is a small town of about 20,000 people nestled amidst ancient mountains near the Bur...

... Teller serviert bekommen hatte!
After a few months of travelling, you become rather blasé about reaching a new place, in this case Pai, in the Northern hills of Thailand, near the border with Myanmar. I only decided to take a peek at my guidebook to look at potential digs as the minibus approached our destination, and soon learnt a lesson about preparation the ************e sentence burned itself into my eyeballs even more than the innumerable bottles of beer I'd drunk with Simon the ...
Pai, Chiang Mai, Thailand chloebbarf...my legs are bleeding yet again. Scooters are a really good way to get out of town and explore hot springs, waterfalls, and canyons...if you dont crash. This morning we decided to drive our scooters a couple hours to Mae Hong Son to explore some caves. The roads here are so windy that sometimes it feels like you do a complete 180. We have already been driving ...
Pai, Chiang Mai, Thailand tiffanygreenI LOVE PAI!!! Wasnt long after we left Chang Mai I knew i would fall in love with this place. The ride was like nothing i had ever experienced and I recommend not attempting it hung over or after drinking a full bottle of water! Met a couple of guys that were travelling alone from england and Austrailia and set out in search of accomadations. Checked into some really cute little huts ...
Pai, Chiang Mai, Thailand tiffanygreen... amazingly they worked better than Hamish's trekking boots, and a bag of snacks. We were driven and dropped off 1/2 hour out of Pai and the fun began. Walked 3 hours through creek bed and mud to first waterfall where we stopped for lunch. On the way there we were lucky and Mr Chart whipped a snake for us which would make dinner. The lunch was Rice and Beef cooked on a campfire, with all implements carved by their machetes while we watched (including ...
Pai, Thailand jamishHope you all appreciate this blog, it's hard work being on holiday in the sun and trying to remember where we have been and what day it is. Only know that it is hot and sunny but we are due home soon. On the road from Mae Hong Son we called at the fish caves where they have exploited a crack in the rock fed by an underground stream, here you can feed the carp (some up to a ...
