Historical Traveler Reviews of Fern Paradise Resort Chiangmai Chiang Mai
Amazing 4 nights stay
from multi_pas
Shalom dear travelers!
We just came back home from our honeymoon in Thailand - stay at the Fern Paradise is the most memorable accommodation choice and Thai hospitality at it best! We enjoyed absolutely everything - starting from the assistance to arrange our arrival, continuing with the warm welcome and the amazing barn we received (#3, but they are all spectacularly designed to the last detail) and the various entertainment plus shopping possibilities nearby. A lot of attention to the details, and above all - we were introduced to the interesting world of Ferns. There are ~200 different types of ferns at the nursery and all around the resort, some very rare, from all over the world.
The Fern Paradise family made the stay unforgettable, and assisted us in every way possible (arrangements, travel advise, transportation, internet etc.). There is also a river passing the resort, so you can take a boat whenever you like and enjoy the nature…
Just to summarize – Fern paradise is the best accommodation choice in Chiang Mai area. And we did our research…
We loved the place!

Staying at this wonderful place was a dream that came true. We enjoyed every second of our 4 nights stay and the hosts made it absolutely perfect.
The place is located away from Chian May (15-20 min), but this makes it a wonderful place to relax and forget the noise of a city.
The owners are very kind people (helped us a lot starting from rides to the city and finishing with arranging a traditional thai wedding suit for us - thanks a lot to them)
The Fern Paradise is a real paradise (and it still has all the benefits of civilization you might need like DVD and cables in the room and 24h internet access for free).
On our last day we felt that we don't want to leave.
Already planning to come back!!

Real Paradise?

Is it paradise?
I would like you to make a note of the following: We all know the plus and minus of the internet. We all know the risk you are taking when booking on the internet.
Have to admit: this was so much better then expected, close to the real paradise (too young to be in the real one yet).
It is a family run places, with only 9 properly designed woodenhouses on stilts, finished and decorated into the smallest details. And the surroundings, real fern paradise, so full of greenery, water, peaceful places. And the staff, family run, so friendly, and going out of their way to make your stay so pleasant. Their job is running the place, therefore they have time for you.
For a few days rest between the running around in the country, just higly recommended for a nice break.
Yes, a place to go back again !
Ferns ferns and more ferns
from trips07
We found this hotel quite by chance using the net - but what a find !!
A wonderful oasis just outside of Chiang Mia - where friendly hosts looked after us so well - nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are delightfully individual surrounded by ferns - we were sad to leave and would recommend Fern Paradise to anyone.
A perfect paradise!

Fern Paradise was a beautiful place to stay... wonderful people, beautiful and unique accommodation and all a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves and our hosts were wonderful - more than happy to help plan day trips, suggest restaurants and give helpful advice on getting out and about. Our room/barn was beautiful and sufficiently spacious and had everything we needed. See the pic! We stayed in the 'basic' room, ie the least expensive, but there was no compromise on quality. Would more than happily recommend staying here. It's out of the main city but not hard to get to via truck or even tuk-tuk, though carry a map in case you have to help with directions!
Our favourite Thai hotel
from James_Lockhart
We stayed at Fern Paradise for three nights in January. The hotel is 15-20 minutes away from the centre of Chiang Mai but there is a frequent songthaew service during the day (17 Baht or so per person) and tuk-tuks cost about 150 Baht when the songthaews stop. We also took up the owner's offers to give us a ride into town a few times - they offer a pick-up and drop-off service as part of the price.
The hotel is made up of a cluster of very tastefully reconstructed rice barns - the owner is an architect and it shows in every detail. Our room (barn no. 7) was perfectly clean and very comfortable, with air-conditioning (which we didn't need at the time of year, we were if anything a bit chilly), a hot shower and a TV and DVD. There's lots of space around to chill out and relax, with a hammock, patios with chairs, a library of novels and DVDs and free high-speed internet.
Breakfast is served on a wooden terrace next to a river / creek and we much enjoyed starting the day in such a unique location.
Another passion of the owner is the propagation of all kinds of fern and the hotel is like a botanical garden. Even though it's not far from the main road, the ferns give a feeling that you really could be in paradise.
The only negative point from our stay was the local karaoke bar, which on a Sunday night kept going until shortly after midnight. The rice barns have light bamboo walls and so have virtually no sound proofing.
On the hand, we tremendously appreciated the atmosphere, service and genuine friendliness of the whole family, which more than made up for any minor complaints.
If we are back in Chiang Mai, we would certainly go back to this hotel and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking to experience more than just professional service and another bland western-style hotel.
Perfect Retreat

Beautiful and Relaxing!

Fern Paradise is very small but wonderful! It is about 15 minutes from Chiang Mai and it is easy to get a ride from the owners. The rooms are simple but beautiful, and the breakfast served every morning right next to the creek was delicious. The service was remarkable...we truly felt like we were family. If you want to be in the center of the action this may not be the place for you but having just come from Bangkok, it was a nice escape to the country...with Chiang Mai city not too far away.
