Beautiful castle set amongst a forest, mountains, golf course and lake. What a setting. Staff so attentive - (Canadians know what customer service means). Everything is BIG - though being such an old building the actual rooms are not - though perfectly adequate. ( why stay in your room?) bed comfortable - breakfast superb. Great place to experience the Rockies.

The location is very special and the views are magnificent. This hotel is styled on an old Scottish castle. Very impressive but absolutely huge and much larger than any castle we have come across in Scotland! Our room was large and comfortable with all the expected facilities. Unfortunately they weren't very good at topping up tissues, toilet paper and tea bags but we have noticed the same problem at the other Fairmont hotels we have stayed in during our visit to Canada. There is a fantastic array of restaurants, but don't set your heart on dining in any particular one of them because you are more likely than not to find it is closed for a function! Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay very much. The service was generally very good and the servers polite and friendly. The overall feel was historic and a bit special, well worth a visit.

This is the morning I have waited a long time for; the day we check into the Banff Springs for one night. I have booked the trifecta of Fairmonts on this trip and I am excited to say I stayed in all of them. I thought it was a fitting way to honor 25 years together.

We started the day with breakfast at Pacini. At first I thought this …

After an early breakfast at the hotel we bid farewell to the Prince of Wales hotel and hit the road for Banff. Despite an unexpected stop at a local hospital and Walmarts we made great time and made a scheduled stop at the Bar U Ranch. This ranch was one of a small group of large corporate ranches in western Canada. Established in 1882, it was one …
