We made it! I had Mandy drive the last section of the journey because there were mountain roads and I'm not good with mountains. I tend to freak out on any curves. If you saw a funny looking guy in Eastern Tennessee with his eyes closed and white-knuckling the dashboard, that was likely me. Thankfully I'm a progressive type of man and will let my woman sit in the front seat and even drive from time to time.

In Live Oaks Campground you can hear
the surf pounding against the beach but, you'er not at the beach. The
smell here is not the smell of the ocean, it is the smell of the
smell of a salt marsh. Here it smells of the earth's primordial soup,
stirred twice a day by forces even greater than the ocean itself.

Edisto Beach SP
Our stop in Gastonia proved a little
longer than we thought it would be. Still, with Jessica and John's
help, we got a whole lot accomplished! We bought our new TOAD,
ordered and installed a hitch to receive the new bike rack. We still
have to decide on a tow system and get that taken care of over the
next couple months. Extra thanks again to John and Jessica for all
their help and company! Did I forget ...
I was so excited to go home with Elizabeth. She said I could go to Edisto Beach with her family for the weekend. I had never been to the beach before! I could not decide what to pack!
After school, we drove to Edisto. It was a long drive - about four hours! When we got there, Elizabeth was so tired that I told her we should just go to bed.

Tomorrow we plan to take a cruise to Fort Sumter and then further explore downtown Charleston where, as I noted earlier, every alley, nook and cranny seems to have some historical importance attached to it.
