... and my 40th birthday last December, I decided to return by myself to cross off one of my bucket list items - seeing the Sakura Festival. And when my wonderful mum decided to come with me it was even more exciting. So, after a late night and a very early rise, a sleepy three hour flight to Cairns, a four hour wait (reading Adam Boland's new book - Brekky Central), then a bumpy seven hour flight, we arrived in Tokyo... For our final two weeks in Australia we returned to Sydney. I had been wanting to stay at a Meriton Serviced Apartments since we started planning for this trip. They looked great online and got great reviews, but were pretty expensive. It was a steaming hot day until a big storm broke late in the afternoon saturating our tent ...

A great day, spent catching up with so many family! We had a lovely breakfast with Justin and Justine (LOVED waking up to see their little girls sitting at our front door, waiting for signs of awakening so our kids could come and play!) then a walk around the block and to the park that backs onto Justin's house. Then after grabbing (too much) food, we drove to Parramatta Park, for ...

... age of 86. Unfortunately his funeral was held the afternoon that we flew out to India so I wasn't able to attend. They shared with us the eulogy that was read and our memories of our times with him. He was the last of that generation. Back to Geoff and Jules for a baked leg of lamb for dinner - no curries tonight! Early to bed to get back into Oz ...
