Can't see the problem

from A TripAdvisor Member
Recently returned from two weeks at the Enclave with Virgin and I cannot see the problems others have come across. Rooms fine, newly decorated and clean, excellent location (didn't have to drive out to dinner once), nice outdoor pool, helpful staff. I got the impression that the refurb had just finished, and some apartments whose owners did not want to pay for refurb are now off the rental list for major tour operators, and their apartments are up for sale. OK, it wasn't very quiet, but what do you expect 200 yards from I-Drive? I would definitely recommend.

OMG THE WORST HOTEL EVER

from A TripAdvisor Member
Me and my GF every month stay at a hotel around orlando where we live. We have been to some cheap and ratty ones. But this one topped them all. First is way too over priced for the conditions. First we noticed marks on the dor whhich looked like someone took a crow bar to it. There was a coke spill on the floor of the room that we were checking into. The kitchen was old, cabinets half off the hinges. The master bed was hard as anything like two box springs on top of each other. Master mathroom only has a shower. Nothign like in the pictures. All a dull beige. Balcony has cracked and dirty plastic chairs. 2 lights were burned out. We didn't go farther into the room, we went to the lobby and complained and the let us into another room in a different tower. Samething, just no spill on the floor. But this one had noticable water marks on the ceiling curtains that looked like there was once a fire in the room. Bed hard as a rock again. We went down to the lobby again and demanded a refund, so they refunded our credit back. But come to find out they keyed the number wrong so we didn't get the refund and still to this day we have gone in person and wrote letters and get no reply by letter or email, and nothing in person as to a solution to the problem. We contacted AAA and several tourist affiliates in the area and told them about this place. The room there was 117.07 we went fromt here and stayed at the Caribe Royale now that was totally worth it and only 88.00.

Fire alarm went off all night long!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at during the weekend of November 1st, 2002. A group of friends and I booked 2 rooms there so we could attend at event in Orlando and spend the weekend scrapbooking in our room. We booked 2 rooms at your hotel and were on the 6th and 7th floors. At approximately 3am on Saturday morning, the ladies in my room (located on the 7th floor) and I were awakened by the sound of the fire alarm. We proceeded very carefully down the stairs to the parking lot. We stayed in the parking lot, most of us in pajamas, in the very cool night air, trying to avoid the sprinklers and figure out what was happening. Along with the other hundred or so guests in the parking lot, we waited for about 40 minutes. At no time we were approached by ANYONE representing the hotel to reassure us or let us know what was going on. Finally, a security guard told us it was "probably safe" to go back inside. Not very reassuring.

We did as he instructed and went back inside, only for the alarm to go on and off until approximately 9am that morning. At this point, 2 of the ladies in our group decided to cut their loses and return home that afternoon, knowing that they had a better chance for restful sleep there, even if it did mean missing out on this much planned weekend away.

On Saturday evening upon our return to the hotel, we decided to voice our complaints to management and spoke to the night manager on duty. She was extremely short with us and very non committal as far as our safety at the hotel and our chances for a good nights sleep. She told us that the previous nights problems were caused by some "kids who thought it would be funny to burn pizza in their room" and that they had been removed. So why did the alarm continue to go off all night long if it was from an isolated incident? She also told us if the alarms were to go off, that we were expected to evacuate each and every time, because it "could be" the real thing.

The hotel didn't give a darn about my good nights rest once I've paid for my room. The managers solution to our ruined weekend was to discount our total bill by $20. Given the rate that we paid for this room for 2 nights, this is an approximate discount of 6%. Being awaked for 6 hours by the fire alarm is worth a 6% discount? I think not. If I wanted to get a rotten nights sleep, I would have skipped paying for a room and curled up in my minivan. The management team appeared quite unknowledgeable about the situation at hand and made us feel very unwelcome.

To date, several of our party have written letters of complaint to the hotel with no reply. Obviously the hotel doesn't care about getting any repeat business or retaining customers. We travel to Orlando at least 6 times a year as we are annual passholders at several theme parks and will never consider staying at The Enclave again. I will also personally inform anyone considering a trip to Orlando to avoid the Enclave.

What is the problem?

Recently stayed at the Enclave Suites, our suite appeared recently redecorated, furniture appeared new - kitchen and bathroom a bit dated but how long do you spend in either ? Location excellent, outdoor and indoor pools, foodcourt small but perfectly adequate.

No noise from Wet and Wild -

Would stay here again.

Not Worth Your Money!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms sucked for the price. The internet pictures are very doctored up. We paid for a suite on 10/18/02 & 10/19/02 and would have saved our money to stay somewhere else. The rooms smell, lots of evidence of leaks, the tv is too small for the room, no movies, found a girls navel ring on the side of our bed, woodwork falling apart, light was flickering on and off, shower heads suck. I could keep going on and on. Rooms are so dirty! Bottom line do not stay at this hotel. If you pay more than $30.00 for a room here you are crazy.

Best Avoided

We visited Enclave Suites in Autumn 2000 after chosing from several hotels. On paper it looked great, 3 pool etc.

We had to swap rooms after arrived as ours was on ground floor but outside door did not lock. Hotel would not change but called travel agent in tears and the got us another room. Room no 2 smelt damp, air conditioning leaked so had to mop floor twice a day, sheets were ripped. We were rarely left towels and had to request them. Staff did not appear to like Scottish people. On the positive side the grounds were nice but inside pool filthy.

I would not recomend this hotel.

The best ever

My husband and I plus our two children have just returned from a two-week stay at the property. It was wonderful.

The apartment had all new furniture; three televisions, two telephones, two full bathrooms, and a housekeeping staff that actually did our dishes each day so that when we returned to the apartment, they were all clean and dry. The owner of the apartment must have spent lots of money on keeping his/her apartment in wonderful shape.

My family had never stayed at a property, which had three different pools, two outdoors and one, indoor. While the free continental breakfast wasn't much to write home about, for a couple of extra dollars we upgraded to a full hot buffet breakfast in the property's very own food court which had five different restaurants. What a treat! The property was beautifully kept and not a piece of scrap was seen anywhere on the grounds.

I really can't think of anything negative except that if one stays in someone's apartment who does not keep it up, I suppose the individual may not be as pleased as we were. But I guess that is what makes the Enclave different than a usual hotel. Each apartment is individually owned.

One thing is for sure, God willing we will stay at the Enclave again during our next visit to Florida.

Horrible!! Don't stay at the Enclave Suites at Orlando

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just got back from our vacation in Florida and stayed at the Enclave Suites in Orlando. It was awful!! The pictures do not represent the actuality of the hotel and are NOTHING like what you get! I felt tricked. We weren't the only ones with room complaints either. When my husband was checking us out, within 2-3 minutes, two different people were making complaints and demanding to see the manager. I was so upset and disappointed with our rooms and the hotel! The indoor pool was smaller than my dining room, I only saw one outdoor pool and it was not olympic size, there was only one tennis court which you could never get on and the blaring Wet 'n Wild music hits you as soon as you step out. We paid for a premium 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite that could sleep up to six people (w/ at least a queen bed in the master bedroom) and got two small bedrooms with a master bed that was board hard and was lucky to be a double and a balcony view of the hotel service area(laundry, mowers, etc). Six people in those rooms would have been bumping into each other constantly!, not to mention with no where to sit. The "couch" was actually more the size of a love seat that the 4 of us had to squeeze onto to watch TV. One of our toilets did not work and the microwave did not work! The appliances are incredibly old! Believe me, there are no words to describe the looks of those. Don't stay at the Enclave Suites at Orlando and tell your friends! They'll thank you! I wish someone had told me!

Stay somewhere else....

I just returned from Orlando, FL where I stayed at the Enclave Suites. Since I know many people use these websites to find reviews of hotels I decided to put in a review. Honestly, it will give me a chance to vent as well.

Enclave must have spent a fortune on their advertising, b/c to make those pictures look that good must have been quite a task even for a professional photographer. Be advised the lake front view, is indeed the back of Wet 'N Wild. My reservation confirmation e-mail stated one hour early admission to Universal. The front desk clerk informed that was only I bought one of their several day park passes which I wasn't interested in. The housekeepers were not up to snuff, the kitchen/bathroom floors were dirty, the pots and pans outdated and one of the stovetop burners did not work. Plus there was assorted dirt and debris under the bed and dressers. The sleeper-sofa was an unfolding foam contraption that I didn't even bother with.

And finally my biggest pet peeve was the in-room safe that they charged you for. Despite what the check in clerk said there is not one key, so the fact that they charge you $100 if you lose it is

ridiculous. They would just have to simply ask on their own staff for a copy of the key, since my locked safe was robbed with no sign of forced entry. And yes I kept my safe key on my person while I was outside of the hotel room. To top that off the safes are supposedly insured. The shift manager gave me an insurance company name and phone number. The phone number belonged to some other place of business in NY, and to both my and the NY Chamber of Commerce's knowledge there is no domiciled insurance company operating under the name of Zuriq Ins Co in the state of NY. So finally, my overall review of Enclave is that it is a nightmare.
