          Close proximity to historic Scottsdale

The average weekday room rate for a suite with two double beds was $164, which included free wifi and breakfast. We had chosen this hotel due to its proximity to downtown and historic Scottsdale, which was less than a mile away. Renovation works were going on at the Apartment Complex. The room assigned to us was spacious, but seemed old. It was, however, not dirty. The complex also included a large outdoor pool.

Today we had plans to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Taliesan West, a place that was his winter home and work place for his apprentices. We had a scheduled tour that began at 10:15. Before that we had breakfast at a little place called D'Lish where they served coffee, tea, breakfast and lunch. The tour was fascinating and Ted was even more interested in architecture when it was done. After the tour we drove into Scottsdale and wasted some time in a part of Scottsdale called ...

... off the Carne Adovada for lunch I got out my golf bag and set out to play the resort’s Par 3 course. It is a nine hole course that tests your short game in spite of the fact that it is quite short. The tees are elevated, the greens are elevated, the ball disappears into the long rough if you miss the fairway, and you never have a flat lie. After humiliating myself on the first nine, the second time around was much better with some pretty good shots and a lot of one puts. ...

... was breezy and cooler. We took only a short walk around the campground and talked with folks about where we could find a laundromat. Not very exciting, but a necessary task. The Park Ranger told us how to get to one on the local Reservation at their RV Park. They let folks who are camping here use the facilities. It's only twenty minutes away or so. Tomorrow is the big day. ;o)

... Apparently the snakes are already out, so we need to keep our eyes open for them. We’re told they are usually as afraid of us as we are of them. Ha, fat chance!

... after we wished we hadn't. The tequila, over ice, filled a low-ball glass, probably at least 4 shots, which we shared, but we had asked for two so as something a bit different the barman gave us a new creation, yet to be named, tequila, blood orange liqueur, grapefruit juice, Italian liqueur and topped with a basil leaf. Amazing. Next it was to FnB's (stood for Food'n'Beverage), who specialise in locally sourced organic food and unique wine, we had to wait for a table, but ...
