We had originally intended to stop our blog at the end of the cycling in Sydney, but it's a handy way to share a few photos with people so have decided to carry on in an ad-hoc fashion as we're travelling around Australia and New Zealand. Since leaving Sydney on December 27th we've spent the last three and a bit weeks travelling up the East coast of Australia, and have been lucky enough to be able to drop in and stay with new friends from our cycling ...

... more hours of viewing one of the "Wonders of the World" (or at least in my books) and petting "Wally" we were called in. We returned to our boat and enjoyed sips of fresh water and chocolate ice cream to wash that salt water taste out of our mouths. A hour cruise brought us back to Cairns were we sat on the waterfront and ate a Christmas dinner that made us a little jealous of the meals we know are being consumed by our families back home...With a UV index listed ...

... exploring one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the biggest reef and largest living organism in the world. Who would say no to that! It may have been a slow start with a few sleepy heads, and some seriously hungover ones too - thankfully not mine - but once we hit the reef, which took about an hour and a half, everyone had awoken, or almost awoken, and were eager to see what this phenomenon had to offer. The water was crystal clear, and incredibly shallow considering ...

... night they had a 'Country and Western' singer at happy hour. We did not attend (ya think!) but we could still hear it in our caravan. Obviously, this man's mother told him he could sing. Talk about woeful. We had to turn our music up to drown him out. We were very happy when his time was up!

We have picked up a few brochures with some touristy ideas of things to do this week but will have to see how Ray goes. He is still not good.
