After organising ourselves we drove up to the more rugged Cape Cod National Seashore which is a beautiful 26 mile drive. The entire area has not succumbed to over development and so it has retained a lazy, sandy and rugged charm....I can see why JFK loved the area.
We were excited to go to the Beachcomber Hotel for some fresh Wellfleet oysters and the famous raw bar. Unfortunately as we entered the car park we were greeted with a huge ...
... inside the well-kept Nickerson State Park. Although there were no toddler swings, there was a really cool sandbox contraption, climber/slides, some big rocks with rope ladders attached, and several shaded picnic tables. That ...
We also took advantage of some outdoor concerts which were nice - one I can only describe as "Quirky"...and I am being kind. You will see the pictures and make your own judgement.
Other than Nauset Beach, we also went to Nauset Light and Marconi Beach. Marconi is the gentleman who sent the first transatlantic message back in the early 1900's from the dunes of the beach named for him.
Enjoy this first installment of Cape Cod.
