      An oldie but still good!

Great staff and rangers, very friendly and knowledgeable. Laxman is a standout guide, an excellent tracker and very passionate about Chitwan National Park.
Rooms are old and in desperate need of renovation. They have a large ceiling fan but no air con and power cuts are frequent but normal for this part of the world. The beds are a little firm but the rooms were clean. Food in the bar is good but limited in flavour and variety, catering to a wide range of nationalities and tastes it must be difficult in a small kitchen.
The resort offers jungle treks with the chance of seeing Rhino, Crocs, Snakes, Spotted Deere and many, many birds and insect species. On our walk we saw Tiger tracks!
Canoeing down the river is an experience, dug out canoes that are hair raising in places!
Elephant safaris are highly recommended although you do need to quiet to have any chance of seeing wildlife, try to avoid going in a large group. Be armed with bananas for the elephants and mosquito repellent for the blood suckers!
All in all it's a great budget resort with heaps to do around the park.

this is a budget place so dont expect too much. Rooms are good size and as clean as you can expect bearing in mind location and costs. No hot water but you get used to the cold. The food is pretty grim and they try and force you to eat at fixed times. If there is a group there, which seems to be often, dont bother trying to get served, it will be hours and the staff will do their best to ignore you. There are better eating places just a few minutes walk from the lodge. We found the guided tours very expensive and we hardly saw any wildlife though we were there late August which is a bad time to visit.

21 JULY Nothing beats having a dozen excited kids run to the door screaming your name at 7:30am in the morning. There is no better way to start the day. I saw a tattoo on another volunteer recently that read: "some people are so poor, all they have is money". The sentiment couldn't ring more true right now. The Nepali people have so little money …

We didn’t see many animals. Mostly because we were so busy just chattering with our fellow passengers. We did see some deer, a peacock and a distant monkey but we could have probably seen a lot more had we been quiet. Chitwan National Park is home to tigers, sloth beers and rhinos.
