We left the hill station of Ooty and made our way down the mountains. On the way to our next stop, we passed through many national parks and even saw a mother and baby elephant along the side of the highway. We were going to Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka, the third and final state of the trip. People in Karnataka speak Kannada, a language different from both Tamil and Malayalam that looks a lot more loopy at the bottom. This would be the part of the trip ...
Nagarhole, Karnataka, India jdn86... i saw the only picture of a tiger hangin up in the park entrance was one of a tigers backside. On foot we set of behind our guide (and protector) He had a single shot rifle in hand just in case we were to get lucky and come face to face with a wild animal .............we walked ......and whispered, ...........and saw many fresh tiget prints in the dirt...........but these animals are elusive............we then took off from the path following some fresh tracks ...
Kalpetta, Kerala, India nickmofryThirunelli is in beautiful beautiful Wayanad in Kerala, India. I went there driving with my wife and my mother. The drive from Bangalore is beautiful and takes about 6-8 hours. One travels through four wildlife reserve forests on the way. If you are lucky, you can spot a wild animal. we had a miraculous near miss with a tusker. He stepped into the road a foot behind us. It was very scary and exciting at the same time. I have seen elephants before, but those were the tame ones, but ...
Wayanad, Kerala, India happilyalive... at 6AM from HSR, Sunil picked up a bus and came over to Marthahalli and Eswar on his bike picked him up. This time it was decided that we will take Manoj's Swift. We went on the NICE road from Kanakpura Road and after paying some 16 bucks to Mysore road we were on the way.
First stop Kamat for some great Idly, dosa and coffee. Then the hunt for ATM started. We thought we will fall short and instead of withdrawing at Srirangapattana or before we decided to push our luck ...

The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with attached western style bathrooms. Bucket showers but hot water. They also have Tata Sky which is great when rain means you can’t go outside.
Traditional Kerala Food is all cooked on site and is delicious. All the fruits and vegetables used are grown on the ...

... mountains were beautiful and there were some orange-robed monks chanting at the entrance. We went to Kurura Island which is an island composed of a mixture of deciduous forest, swamps, tall grass and mostly, of tall bamboo stands that sway and make strange creaking noises in the wind, natural wind chimes. Very Zen darling. The bamboo sticking out of the ground was like a giant game of pick up sticks. Wayanad Tourism's brochure encourages an activity for tourists to do ...
Wayanad, Kerala, India inoursuitcase... brits and two venezuelan sisters. We were all here hoping to spot wildlife. The first night we did a jeep tour just on the outskirts of the sanctuary. We spotted bison and red-spotted deer, which was nice but not as satisfying as the 'big game' we were hoping to see. The next morning the two of us and the sisters went on a jeep safari inside the sanctuary boundary lines. It looked promising from the beginning when we caught sight of two red ...
Tholpetty, India losbrowns... we just conquered. We were completely exhausted tired and went off to sleep in a jiffy. Next day plan was to go to pakshipathalam Pakshipathalam is home for a wide variety of birds. We had to take special permission from forest department to enter the groove of birds. We traveled around 17 kms in the dense forest and reached Pakshipathalam. Jeep is the best mode of transport which can be hired from there itself. We saw exotic birds in dense forest. The place was quite and little ...
