    ... and we arrived at the apartment complex by a man and his dog. No not a joke, literally a man a his dog. Not only was he a man and a dog but a very handsome Italian guy and the cutest Labrador/pit bull I have ever met. He carried (did I mention carried??) my bag to my room for me and then we chatted in the kitchen for a while. He showed us how his dog high fives you and plays dead when you pretend to shoot him. (Sometimes it's just the little things) in the back ...

    ... strike up a friendship (we dubbed it 'bonding') with Bill while Bill was in dire need of relieving himself in the German countryside".  It's true - while we really value the sights and memorials and history and architecture that we saw in Europe, it is the history we made as a family that is the real treasure of these trips.  And maybe that's the best history lesson of all.     ... around 70-72 F . We decided to drive up the coast to Crystal River. On TV this am it said it was the prettiest retirement community in Florida. And so it is ....We wanted to see manatees but were without luck....they winter in the rivers huddled close together but at this time if year they are dispersing along the rivers...will try again!
    The park also is a site of an ancestral native burial ground with a large interpretive center.

    ... Mama, which we both got, in the souvenir Fish Bowl. It was Ok, I think that was the only one for those I ordered.
    Got our passes for the Spa for the duration. only thing they were missing in the Spa was the heated stone loungers, but we survived without them.

    Our sailaway was right on time, and we headed towards blue water.

    After spending a few hours at the Wagon Wheel, Greg and I went over to Gulf Blvd, and drove the portion that follows the Gulf of Mexico from Indian Shores to Clearwater Beach. We walked along the beach for a couple miles and just about froze. But it was still nice to be on the beach where we spent many spring vacations in the 1990s.
