Life with the Locals
... almost everyone opts to take the jeepney back because that only takes like 5 minutes. After working hard all day in the heat, I don't blame anyone for taking the jeepney. In fact, most days that's exactly what I did. For a number of reasons beyond the exhaustion though: 1) you can be one of the first to get a shower (remember there's only 4 showers and 20+ volunteers), 2) dinner starts about half an hour or so after we get back, and finally 3) if you have to wait to ...

The site actually moved, but we found it and then Mozell bought us Coke Floats which really hit the spot. Came back to ...
HAN-AY Cagayan
... time with the other volunteers there, but for a community event I was hoping we'd spend more time with the community. Afterward one of the local workers who was playing in the tournament with us invited us to meet his family. This was really generous and a great opportunity to see life in the relocation site. His house was demolished, and they explained they didn't have pictures from before the flood. We met his children ...
