The gas attendant recommended hotels at Thessalon and Blind River. I followed his suggestion and tried the Carolyn Beach Motor Inn at Thessalon and was not disappointed. The view from my room, the restaurant and almost anywhere in town is spectacular. It overlooks Lake Huron.
... thankfully had sunlight the whole day. I will mainly be following highway 17 to get to Ottawa, but if the rest of the road is like today I will likely need to find an alternate route. For our last full day at the cottage rental, Fiona and I decided to enjoy the "toys" that the cottage provided.
We went for a relaxing row boat ride. I ended up rowing the boat the entire time though. It was great exercise for me which was nice.
We went swimming in the beach near our cottage.
We even used the bikes that are available for people renting the cottages. There are tons of bikes that you can choose from.

While Joanne went to see what was wrong with her at the hospital, Fiona and I walked around the area - visiting a trailer park playground and then wandering across the road to a beach. The beach was nice but there was a lot of oil on the sand and grass.

We stopped at a cemetery which was quite interesting. Many of the stones had fences around them (some steel and some wood).
We also drove to a beach. We decided not to go swimming at this beach but to head back to our cottage rental and go swimming at that beach instead.
