and it is not from drinking. I have been offshore now four days and the island island mindset has set in. I have to say I am getting pretty damn relaxed. I did a few more dives today with Paradise Divers and decided to go on the big boat, about 16 divers total. Everyone made it back although, a ...
Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico mark.winer... for awhile then returned to Buzz's for an infamous night of karaoke a la Walgreens with a microphone sans battery. Yeah, that's right...One duet was Endless Love. WHAT? Friends listen to endless love in the dark...LOCO! Saturday, December 27th We heard Akumal had been insanely crowded so we tried to beat the masses to get in some quality snorkeling before the arrival of the sand stirring tour groups. We had to work out some details for the casa and Festivus ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... we had more time to hang out there, but Chris and I had some shopping to do so we couldn't stay as long as we wished. Our mad shopping rush included Wal-Mart, Soriana and Sam's Club. We bought a ton of little things and I scouted out new bedding options, none of which I was really excited over. We closed the stores that night! Sunday, September 7 - For breakfast we went to Tulum Pueblo and had some tasty eats at Don Cafeto. I had originally been dead-set on finding ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... because they know what they are doing and want you to be happy. Renee even met up with me to pick out fabric at Decora (I think?) in Playa one day. They can do anything you need done on your house from concrete to carpentry, kitchens, baths, palapas, landscaping, etc. No doubt, they have a lot of people already enlisting their services and they will be booked for a while. They own two houses in the community and are even considering moving down there instead of commuting ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... back home. Fifteen minutes into the walk back, I felt the blisters starting on my sockless feet. So much for padded-sole Keds. But it was a beautiful day, and worth it . Vidal's job was keeping him busy. He had to spread himself between the Bahia Principe Tulúm hotel and 4 other hotels daily, the furthest being 20 minutes away. His clients keep him nonstop busy from 9am to 8pm daily, so the only friends he had made were the ones he knew ...
Zihuatanejo to Playa del Carmen, Mexico tacoinusa... walk down the beach and back. The hotels get nicer the farther you head south down the beach in Tulum. Not necessarily nicer, but definitely more expensive. I think we got a really good deal on our bungalow in comparing to alot that I saw. So no chorizo, back to the hotel, and some time relaxing on the beach. Ours had some nice beach lounges, and the hotel supplied beach towels as well, which is a huge ...
Tulum, Mexico elizacass... here and the fact that the instructors are here and this close.. Who knows, a possible future job might await me in the diving/research field! The community work is so fulfilling. It is really great to participate in the teaching and other activities we do with the local community. That is one of the best parts of this whole adventure. Take care everyone! It is so great to hear from you - keep in touch!
Pez Maya, Mexico whatboundaries... to the hotel and got ready for the web cam. We got back to Lol-Ha just after 4:30pm and our parents called Chris's cell phone because they saw us. The party was great and went on until late in the night. We had dinner at Lol-Ha too. Chris ordered the coconut shrimp and loved it! I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were so big, but so good. I also met Maggie from the library and made a donation. We chatted about the welfare of children for a while and I shared some of my ...
Akumal, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... we'll eat. Maybe. We walk up from the curb and notice that the place is a ghost town. Hmm, maybe we'll pass on il Basilico. Then somebody steps forward from around the corner and asks if we'd be interested in a table upstairs. "Oh", we both say simultaneously, "There's an upstairs". So he leads us upstairs and the place is very nice. Dark wood structures with a very high straw palapa roof. There are heavy duty tables all along the ...
