Wes had a good flight from S. Dakota to Bozeman, MT (KBZN). Four hours on the dot with 10 to 20 kt. tailwinds all the way! They predicted headwinds! I stayed under the cloud deck for the first couple hours which only left me 500 to 800 ft above the desolate terrain. The winds above the deck where going the wrong way, so I stayed put and enjoyed the sagebrush.
I got kind of a late start out of Belle Fouche because of a passing squall ...

To Holland lake: 56 miles Lots of miles but had lots of riding buddies today! One just decided to quit the trail and head out to the aca headquarters in missoula because apparently if you show up with a loaded bike you get free ice cream. .. Like really bad trail conditions but honestly it was outrageous and I'd totally ride back and do it again ...

    DAY 2
I woke up at 8am, which is particularly early for how I've been sleeping recently, but there is never much sleeping in when you are camping. I decided some exercise would do me good since I haven't worked out in a while, and man am I in bad shape. Anyway, that made my breakfast all the more enjoyable and I was ...

... today, though it was probably six. Slow going in this big underpowered thing. From this morning I continued generally south and east. Starting with a long slow downhill dirt road trek from last night's excellent spot (saw four elk on the way down the mountain) I drove this absolutely beautiful drive south on 83, left (east) on highway 200, south on 141, east on 12, ...

... is stunning. The best lake so far! We had always planned to eat out at the lodge here but hadn't realized it would be quite so pricey. The word 'deconstructed' on the menu always spells financial doom but we've put this one on long term plastic so as not to blow the budget. Matt had elk steak; Nadine deconstructed chicken pie. After thirteen days eating pasta off the stove it tasted pretty special. We've been sucked into having breakfast here too as tomorrow is going to be hell on the ...
