Well, here it is. Two fantastic weeks have flown by in a haze of picture perfect sunsets, the bluest, warmest water and countless glasses of champagne. We are packing up and preparing to leave the Gili at 12:45.
The last few days have continued to be wonderful. The Asian Market was, as usual, fantastic on Tuesday night. We enjoyed ourselves at the Manager's Reception before dinner...it was further down the beach than we had ventured before and didn't even know ...
... delicious and they had everything...lots of fresh fish, homemade pasta made to order, desserts galore...you name it, they had it. And it was all so GOOD! We didn't linger long at dinner, though; Colin's developed an earache from the diving and the plane ride yesterday didn't help. I luckily brought an antibiotic prescription with me, so we went back to the room so Colin could get his first dose in. Luckily Dr. Barrie was a quick text message away ...

But this was just plain ridiculous. They were unprepared, overdressed, and were not going to ruin our fishing trip. All the rest of us rolled our eyes, baited up our lines, and threw our hooks into the water and tried desperately to ignore all the dramatic sounds that were coming from the back of the boat. When planning a cheeky few days in the Maldives we googled a load of islands, checked out the flight time (1.5 hours) and thought it was an easy little hop over the sea. The flight was indeed 1.5 hours and easy although the 5am taxi to the aiport was a little too early for our liking. What we hadn't factored in was the addional ferries and waiting time. We left our hostel in Negombo at 5am and arrived at the hotel in the Maldives 6pm, 12.5 hours later. I'm fairly sure ...
... and it's 30 degrees. We have a little bag packed as our cases are reportedly travelling by boat so could be a while and I have therefore packed some spare clothes, bikini and swimming shorts and importantly sun screen. Already tanning In my usual stripy fashion so need to even it out! We are both shattered so whilst say in this little lounge going to indulge in some coffee. See you on the island! ...
