Historical Traveler Reviews of Disney Coronado Springs Orlando
Bad experience
from kenmore
Stayed for 4 nights late last year--very disappointed in the overall condition of room and especially the mold and mildew in bathroom which we complained about repeatedly but was never clean--room was completely ragged out--never stay there again..

After our horrendous stay at Port Orleans Riverside this place was totally fabulous. Just the building itself was gorgeous.
(We requested this hotel thru WDW travel but were told it was booked solid)
The place was empty. It was clean. The food court was different than the other Disney hotels and the selection was grand. Definately suited our family (5&7 year old).
Our room location was near busstop 4, we quickly learned the ropes of getting around the resort using the bused when we needed. The pools were lovely, unfortunately by the time we got there it was late and the next day the temperature plunged and the monsoons started. The kids were SO disappointed that the lifeguards quit early (due to temperature--not their fault) but we did enjoy the hot tub one rather chilly night (yes, in Florida--what was that about?)
The staff was great, the service was great, sometimes the buses were slow but I think that was due to the fact we were there mid December.
I could see where it could be crowded with conventioniers but we didn't experience that & frankly I would take a bunch of semi-drunk conventioniers over insane, unsupervised, rude teenagers any day.
Coronado Springs Resort Rocks!!

My husband, two children and I went to the CSR in January of 2002. Not only was the resort atmosphere outstanding, but the service and food was fantastic. My husband still says the steak he got at the Maya Grill was the "best ever". We got a room in the Casitas, so our walk was not too far from the main building. The Pepper Market was great, too. The kids really enjoyed being able to pick what they wanted, and then getting their card stamped. We went in January, so we couldn't really use the pool, but we did walk to it, and it was incredible. There is a water slide, and a little bridge that goes over it. The pool is this huge Mayan pyramid and it has a "fire" at the top. You could see it across this giant lake from our room, and it felt like we were in another country! The quiet pools had a very relaxing feel to them. Again, it was too cold to swim, but I was tempted to anyway!! The lobby is gorgeous, and the gift shop is loaded with everything you would ever need. There is even a mini convenience store to purchase things you might of forgotten. I never got a chance to use the fitness center or the salon, but I did peak in, and they are both impressive. We are planning another trip for this January (it's the least crowded time for the parks and the resorts!! - and Florida residents get an awesome discount!) I would recommend this resort to anyone!!! Oh- did I mention atmosphere??? It's just breathtaking!
Enjoyed our stay

My wife and I spent several days at the Coronado Springs Resort and we had a very nice time. The staff was extremely courteous and professional. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and the hotel, grounds, pools and other facilities and amenities were very nice. I would recommend this hotel to others if asked.
OK but ...

We stood in three different hotels while spending some days of vaccation in Orlando during April/May '02. This one is a clear conference hotel. Good for that purpose, not as good if you have kids. You have to walk long distances depending on your room to get to the food market. Anyway: The rooms are small but ok, everything is very clean and new and they try to keep it that way (a lot of workers are around the whole day). The backside is that you do not have a fridge or a microwave etc. - there is simply nothing. The room is equipped with a bed and a very small bathroom - thats it. Different pools are around, a local small pool with less people and a bigger one for the whole hotel. To bring it to the end: Would I go there again? No, because I know that there are better hotels around which are much cheeper :-). And by the way: Where was Mickey? Didn't see him in the hotel.

Beautiful grounds, amazing service from staff on the grounds, food service, housekeeping, front desk as well as management. Great mini spa services and a gym! Deluxe amenities for those who don't want to spend so much money on the room they will not be in all that often! Had a wonderful stay at CSR!
Welcome to the Hotel California. . . errrr. . . Coronado

The Coronado is visually lovely and extremely well-maintained. While I was there, clean, polite workmen were busily painting the balconies and doors near my room which were not visibly in need of painting. The people who work at this hotel are unbelievably nice--BUT--if you are not a Disney maniac it will drive you crazy. There is no newspaper in the morning. . . no Pay-per-view on the tv. . . . the book selection in the only gift shop fits onto one tiny rack. They only sell two or three magazines. Dining choices are very limited for a "resort" of over 1,000 rooms. The room service menu was the most limited I have ever, ever seen, consisting of a few sandwiches, a pizza a ceasar salad and . . . that's about it. The restaurants are side by side and both are all the way around a lagoon from many of the rooms. There are shuttles to Disneyworld, but no easy transportation anywhere else. Everything about the Coronado is designed to make you want to leave and go back to the parks and spend more money.
Great hotel, but eat elsewhere.

Took my family of 5 to the Coronado Springs in July, 2002. My wife had a convention there and she said the convention facilities were excellent. The property was beautiful, the lake and pool provided fun for the kids away from the parks and the room was big enough and well themed. I would not recommend the Pepper Market, except for drinks (hint; buy a resort cup for $11 ASAP and it is filled for free thereafter), and the Mayan Grille was nothing special. The take-out by the pool had some good sandwiches and is good for a midday lunch/pool break. We also stayed at the Port Orleans and would definately return to the Coronado if we stay at a moderate-priced resort in the future. It is convenient and the view at night is beautiful.
Beautiful Property

I've to Coronado about four times now. Twice with my husband and twice my family. Its beautiful property and the rooms are pretty comfy. Just make sure you get a room close to the bus stops or you;ll be walking for miles. The only bad experience was that my father took his gold chain off to sleep, he hung from the bed post and we left the next day without. He didn't realize that he left it until we got to the airport. I spent about one hour calling the hotel, but nobody could help us. They finally called back on my cell and said that the employees who cleaned the room did not find anything. Yeah right!!!!!!!!!!
So I guess the bed must of swallowed it right!!!!
So BEWARE!! if you stay there, don't leave anything behind.Other than that I'd definately stay there again.
Food Poisoning - beware Pepper Market
from A TripAdvisor Member
After a seven hour flight from the UK we were fully bushed by the time we arrived at Coronado Springs in the late afternoon a week before Christmas. The actual hotel was all that we had read about and more being beautifully situated around a series of lakes - they even honoured our request for a room in Cabana 9B!! BUT THE FOOD IN THE so-called PEPPER MARKET was DISGUSTING. On our first night we tried it out. The ONLY food worth eating (to me) was the pasta & cheese bake. My female companion had roast beef - she likes her meat. But this was oozing blood and had pink and raw patches of obviously uncooked muscle, but hey, that's how Americans like it? But next day whilst we were touring Animal Kingdom she was taken seriously ill at mid-day and had to be wheel-chaired out of the park and bused back to the hotel. She was deathly white and sick as a dog. The Guest Services folk at Animal Kingdom were brilliant and gave us a free pass to continue our tour later. But all the restaurant would do was to get me to fill in a complaints form which I duly signed but which I now assume was some sort of legal disclaimer against sueing them. But we got NO APOLOGY from the restaurant nor from the hotel management. We found out later that the Pepper Market is not run by Disney but by outside contractors. During our stay we had to return food to the serving counters TWICE due to it being uneatable. And the lack of hygiene by some of the serving staff had to be seen to be believed. In fact even discounting the exorbitant prices, the food at the Pepper Market was the most DISGUSTING we have ever experienced for many years. We will not be back.
