Day 13, Wednesday April 14, 2010; Disney World

Greg's Version:

The plan was to spend the morning at Animal Kingdom; go to Magic Kingdom to see the parade and go back to EPCOT for dinner. After last night's fireworks we decided that we would stay for that too.

It almost worked that way. There must be twenty high school …

Day 14, Thursday April 15, 2010; Disney World

Greg's Version:

The first thing we did was get a FastPass for Soaring but the available time was during the time we had lunch …

We arrived to our hotel mid afternoon after the mickey mouse shuttle picked us up from the airport. Door to door service and they even pick up your bags for you! The hotel was music themed and we spent the afternoon by the guitar shaped swimming pool! In the evening we went to 'downtown disney' which is an area full of themed restaurants, bars, …

Bro called to say they were on their way to Ponderosa for breakfast. We were checking out, so had to collect our stuff, but decided to do it after breakfast. To Ponderosa, expecting the other six were already there -- no Bro -- hmmm ... Back outside, don't see them walking along the street -- woman tries to tell me I paid too much for Universal …

    Great place to stay

    from anonymous

We stayed at the All-Star Music for 5 days and thought it was great. We spent most of our time at the attractions but when we were in the room everything was great. There are no extra frills in the room but everything was brand new and exceptionally clean. Transportation to the parks from the hotel was well worth staying on Disney property.

    Not too bad...

    from anonymous

I've stayed here twice and found that it's great for those who focus on the attractions more than the rooms they stay in...and/or for those who like a very reasonable price for a Disney resort hotel. If you're going to spend some time here, try to get the Broadway section - it's much quieter than the other themed building areas. And enjoy visiting the other, more exquisite Disney hotels!

Good quality for a low price

    from Ninacat

My family stayed here in December 2000 for about $80/ night. The room was small and had no frills, but the overall resort had some nice qualities such as the large food court and the buses. Somehow Disney lost our reservation, so we ended up in a room at the far end of the hotel, past the 2 pools. My out-of-shape family did not enjoy lugging our suitcases over there at 2 am when we checked in, but at least the hotel tried to remedy the situation. My advice is bring lots of your own food (instant oatmeal, granola bars, instant coffee) and a hotpot. They let you take a backpack into the parks too so you can take your snacks there. I think you can rent a fridge for cheap. The Disney staff was incredibly gracious and our experience was pleasant.

    Great place to stay!!

I thought All Star Music was fantastic! We enjoyed the pool, food court, gift shop, and arcade. It was such a treat to have the character caravan visit the hotel. My daughter, who was 5 at the time, loved it!! The room are a tad bit small, but how much time do you really spend in the room anyway? It seemed like there was always a bus coming around to pick us up and bring us to which park we wanted to go to. Wonderful for budget-conscious travelers, of those just wanting to add more of a Disney touch to their trip. We can't wait to go back.

    Disappointed with hotel staff

    from anonymous

We have stayed at Disney several times before. This was our first stay at the Music resort and we were disappointed. Although, the rate was great $55 a night, the professionalism of the staff was dissapointing. We had a maid who left a half eaten apple in the room, and broke one of my child's toys. In the future we will definitely pay a little more to stay at a better Disney property.

    A great experience

We stayed one night here this past weekend with my parents and son and loved it! The staff was very helpful! I made a few requests (a crib, towels, etc.) and they were very courteous and prompt. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. The only drawback is they are not available until 4:00pm, but they will hold your luggage. There was a wonderful food court with a great selection of food/beverages. The arcade and pools were great and the atmosphere itself was very magical! We loved that the pools were open until midnight! There is a shuttle right outside the door which takes you to the resorts. They offer great discounts--look for them and get a preferred room if possible. We will stay there again!

    Great Value for the price!

    from anonymous

We have a 22 month old, and we found the All-Star resort a great value for the money. We stayed the last week in August-2002, with a $77 Cdn/night package. Upon check-in you receive a 'Disney card' to use for all purchases, food, etc. Staying at the resort you also are able to have purchases shipped complimentary back to the hotel - that way you don't have to carry around expensive purchases while in the parks. We stayed at the Jazz Inn, one building over from the Calypso which is right in front of the guitar-shaped pool. We didn't find it necessary to pay the extra $10/night to stay at the Calypso. The Jazz Inn is literally a 2-minute walk further. The crib (Graco playpen) was complimentary and was in good shape, clean, and came with Disney sheets. The room was clean, a regular type hotel room, thermostat-controlled, and in good shape. We bought a Minnie Mouse for our daughter, and after a day at the park Minnie was left by the cleaning staff in cute poses around the room. One night Minnie was swinging in the front window - the curtain was made in to a swing. Characters would also come first thing in the morning in the lobby for pictures with the children. The food at the food court was reasonable (less expensive than the other resorts on the property, and less than in the parks), we purchased the souvenir plastic mugs for $9.95 which gives you unlimited beverages for the length of your stay. The buses which bring you to the parks were usually on-time, convenient, and 1/2 the time you could get a seat. The stroller was difficult getting on/off the bus, especially those that have a thin isle. It was good bringing it though, gave our daughter a chance to nap at the park, and a place to store packages/etc. and a place to rest drinks. The pools were clean, life-guards were on-duty, and the kiddie pool was great. To get to/from the airport we used Mears - they were on-time, enthusiastic, and reasonable. We will definitely return for a future vacation!

Upgrade is well worth the $

    from anonymous

My husband, I and our two children (ages 2 and 4) stayed at All Star Music May of 2002. I would urge anyone with small children to pay the small amount of extra money for a superior room. Request that room face the main pool, first floor if possible. We truly believe this made all the difference in our stay at this resort. The bus stops, restaurant & lobby were a short walk away and the pool just steps from our door. Very handy for changing diapers! We were so close that after the kids fell asleep, we could sit pool side with a baby monitor and see in the window.

I wish i could go back....

    from anonymous

Wow...what an amazing hotel. Although I'm not a fan of country music, being from a small town and all, the hotel was so awesome. A few things frightened me about it though. In the bathroom, the wall paper is many pictures of famous singers, living and dead. It sort of bothered me that there were dead singers watching me shower. And also, along the top of the room, the wall paper border of the cowboy boots was odd, because they were set up so that it looked like they were walking. Some of my friends took the liberty to point that out to me right before i fell asleep, and i got very little sleep that night because the cowboy boots frightened me. I made some amazing memories with my friends there, and I had a wonderful time. The hotel was great, and I really liked all the different types of music. It was very cool.
