Two Young Giffers on a Motorbike in Fetihye

A travel blog entry by jennifer63 on Aug 11, 2014

Great to get back on the bike today, er um for about 10 minutes. The temperature rose to 42.5 in no time and our Rukka textiles are not suited to this, we were literally baking inside our gear. Reluctantly but necessary, I took off my jacket and rode in a t-shirt for the first time ever, it was bliss but sooooo unsafe. A waterfall spouting ...

... from the internet so you can see a bit of the area.)

After hiking around, we went back to the van and continued our ride to Fethiye. It took about 3 hours to get there, but was a great drive. It is very similar to Big Sur - roads along the curves of the mountains with precipitous drops to the ocean. The only difference is that the ocean is an amazing aquamarine color.

We stay in Fethiye for the next two days so will have more to report then!

We were instructed to wait at the side of the main road to be collected for the trip between 10.30 and 10.45, but true to Turkish timings and following an anxious phone call to the excursion company by my mum, we were collected just before 11. A bus took us to Fethiye port (where we walked a few evenings before) and we boarded a huge wooden boat complete with two decks and a water slide which ...

... I thought we were going to be the only ones) Once again the minibuses were packed of people but it was a short ride. Kids didn't complaint anymore. I think they were happy to travel like that. Adagrace was a bit sick with a cold and she didn't feel happy that morning so we hoped she would be ok in the boat. We boarded the ship and waited for an hour before departing. Adagrace was upset the whole time and when I decided to go back to the hotel and let Nathan and ...

... went for a swim in the lagoon with Kate, Alex and Gill. Gill let me borrow her snorkel mask so I could practice before the boat trip tomorrow (I hadn't quite got the hang of it the other day). Once I got the hang of it I loved it. Kate found a large crab and we saw schools of small fish. We then freaked out a little because we thought we found saw something that might be a jellyfish so we swam back to shore and had a cold shower before ...
