Yesterday we got to the Black Sea, today we were taken out into the Danube Delta. Our host, Tavi had offered when we arrived, a four hour guided trip in his own boat. This did mean being ready at 7.30 am but having seen the forecast (33 degrees) we thought an early start made sense. We would be out in the cooler morning air and back in time for lunch. ... we were going, offered advice on the Delta region and finally suggested that he could lead us out of the city. Such kindness from a total stranger is typical of our experiences here. It was just as well we did not take him up on his offer as he soon caught us up, carving through the traffic like a London courier. With our fully loaded GS being as wide as a barn door there is no way we could have stayed with him in the traffic.

We had been promised "lots of birds" by the tour tout. Initially we were disappointed in the wildlife although the magnitude of the river in the early morning light was awesome. Train and Ferry Tickets
We huddled over a pitcher of fresh lemonade on the hotel terrace to decide what to do with the extra day gained. Tulcea didn't seem like a place to linger so we added the extra day to our stop in Bucharest.
While the boys cleaned up and rested a bit, Junko and I went on a mission to get tickets for rapid boat to Sulina the next morning and bus tickets ...
... town. And a couple of drops into hotels left us wondering if we might end up paying Med prices to stay the night. In our last hotel though, we managed to get a good discount that let us stay in two, frankly lovely, rooms for 101 Lei (~£20) per room. Sometimes a good dose of sweet-talking is needed to soften up a price... ;)
