... bodes well for our crossing.

After breakfast, we had enough time to shower and shave and report to the Silhouette Theater, as this was the only port that we were doing an organized port tour. I knew so little about the Canary Islands, and wanted to try to maximize our experience, that we opted for a tour of the Northern part of the island. As advertised, we would be able to get a good ...

Greetings again,

We are now working our way south west through the Canary Islands

20/10 we left Puerto Calero in a little wind scenario, but as we only had 13 miles to our next destination put up the sails and had an organized drift for 4 hours, eventually we arrived at the anchorage on the inside of Isla de lobo on the northwestern tip of Fuentaventura and anchored in a pretty bay under a volcanic cone, it is ...

... riesiges, tropenartiges Anwesen. ...

Definitely Not A Four Star Hotel

    from anonymous

First off, I need to let everybody know I'm American, but have lived in Spain for 25 years, so I'm accustomed to all kinds of Spanish hotels. Have stayed in Paradores, hostals, great hotels and not-so-great hotels. Sorry to say that the Dania Park is a not-so -great hotel, maybe even bordering on "A Place I Wouldn't Stay At Again." The rooms are clean, but sparsely furnished. Forget a decent view. The bathroom glasses are minute. Soap is rationed...we got two small bars the day we arrived, and we never saw any more. (We had a four day stay.) There was no remote control for the tiny T.V. When my husband told the receptionist this, he was told that it was necessary to pay a 30 safety deposit for this "service", which he claimed was completely normal in a four star hotel. (Not true in Spain!!!) The staff was totally rude, cold, and unhelpful. Particularly the clerk who was on duty during Check-In/Check-Out times, when they should be bending over backwards to give a good impression. A couple of positive points, to be fair. The breakfast is a buffet with eggs, bacon, cereal....quite complete. The hotel is superbly located, only a short walk from the center of Puerto de La Cruz, and right across the street from TITSA, the station for bus service all over the island. Even with this going for the Dania Park, I don't think I'd stay there again.

    Pretty good but

    from anonymous

We were booked into the Dania Park. On arriving late at night we were taken to a room in the Magec sister hotel. We discovered our balcony never had any sun. We suggest you check before accepting any room. The food and staff were very good. The lobby was smoke filled and one felt one had to rush through.

    Feels like home

    from anonymous

The Dania Magec is and always has been brilliant have gone for the last 7 years and are going back again this year. The staff from management to cleaners are very helpful and friendly and will do anything for you.

The location is great, central for everything. It is not just for the elderly we are a family of 4 and have always found something to do within the hotel. There is also plenty of places to visit around the area which are a must to see again and again. Looking forward to going back in November 2004 it is definatly" HOME FROM HOME" for us. Well done to everyonewho makes this posible.

    Mixed blessings!

    from anonymous

First the positives. The rooms were clean, tidy and maintained. We were lucky in getting a sea view room as, for what we could work out, only those on the middle section fourth and fifth floor would have this.

Foyer staff were professional and dealt with every request properly.

Location is very good, with the bus station next door and the main cente and sea front a genuine ten minutes stroll, although the fifty metres nearest the hotel is a little uphill.

And the negatives. The air conditioning is ineffective and isn't even mentioned in some of the brochures, which is probably deliberate. And the food! We went with an open mind, knowing there were problems but willing to 'go native' since this hotel caters for mainly Spanish. Even so, we found the food to be worst we've had so far on a half board holiday. The meat was always way undercooked, the veggies way overcooked and the choice was the pretty much the same every night. The salad bar was good though!

This is not a four star hotel, regardless of the official ratings.

However, the price seems to reflect this, so if you ignore the rating and keep your expectations at, say, lower three star, then what you are getting for your money is about right.

    Great location

    from anonymous

Just back from 14 night stay at the Dania Park. Although there was only 2 of us we were allocated a family room with a very large balcony which was a bonus from the start. The food is great with lots of different dishes to choose from, they cater for every taste, although some people still managed to complain. (They should try Blackpool instead). The location is great very central. The harbour is only a few minutes walk away and the bus station is just across the road so if you want to venture further afield you can. All in all an excellent hotel with friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

    Nice

Nice clean hotel with quite good personal. The rooms are simple.15 minutes walk to the beach.

    Great hotel and fantastic location

    from anonymous

The Hotel Dania and her sister hotels had fantastic facilities with the staff being very warm and friendly. Alot of people have said it is for the older age bracket but i disagree. Food was good, room was cleaned, and towels were changed every day.If you want a relaxing holiday or a fun packed holiday but want to stay away from the clubbing scene this is the place for you. Peurto de la Cruz is a great place to stay, I will most definately be going again.

Magec great except for the food

    from anonymous

The Magec is a nice hotel, the swimming pools are good, the staff are friendly well most of them and Puerto De La Cruz is great. Well my grandfather came from the Island and I have Uncles and aunts still there. The one problem with the Magec is the food, the buffet is practically the same every day and the coffee was just awful. Spain is a nation of elegant coffee drinkers.I think the problem is that the Magec is run for the German market. It bugs me that a lot of the money on the island goes straight back to germany.Apart from the food the Magec is great.

    Superb place for family

    Dania - Magic

    from anonymous

well situated; close to the excellent shops and beautiful plazas of peurto de la cruz. the dania and its sister hotel magec offer comfortable and spacious rooms, five pools, jacuzzi, nightly entertainment, four bars, three restaurants and pleasant staff throughout. the bus station offering buses to all parts of tenerife is accross the street and the beach is a five minute walk away. the main shopping areas are around the corner and the lido is easily within walking distance.
