... the snow on them, made for a really picture postcard effect. One of Antalya's claims to fame is that you can swim and ski within an hour of each other - that's how close the mountains are. Today we stopped at one of the restaurants in the marina, bought ourselves our rapidly-becoming favourite drink (Efes Beer) and sat and watched the world go by. The temperature was 20C according to a thermometer we saw down ...

... took us through several sets of mountains and quite a bit of snow. The village we stopped to have lunch in had snow on the ground. The cafe was basically a tent but it had a heater inside it. Victoria and I shared a dish called sacurva (pron. satchiva). This morning we walked down to the Port area with stunning views over the water to snow capped mountains from the Taurus range.

Lots of locals and tourists around as it was a lovely sunny day. Heaps of cafés and restaurants. We walked around the water for a while and sat in the sun.

Antalya is a lovely city - very laid back and a nice vibe about it. The sun helps!

While the people trade along this route new ideas and beliefs are constantly being spread. Muslim scholars, and many educated people from all the Middle East come and share their ideas with the native people of Anatya. Such as medicine, advancements in mathematics, as well ...

... river another 2-3 metres we found a large no enterance sign to stop people going where we had just been!

That night we went to see the chimera (eternal flames). The Chimera is depicted was a three-formed beast; a lion in front, a python in its hinder parts, goatlike in the middle. They were amazing and it was still comforting to sit around a fire in Turkey in summer after having walked up a big ...
