We are so lucky to have friends that invite us to ski at Waterville Valley. It's a really nice family focused resort about a 5 hour drive from New Canaan. The kids get on well and know the resort so well now that they ski or snow board together and then meet up with their slower parents at lunch or the end of the day.
... This morning it's snowing, great big flakes. We're about 5 minutes out of Bridgton which itself is a lovely little place with a great bookshop (which Stephen King frequents apparently), a covered bridge, artsy/old fashioned cinema, as well as all the essentials. The boys have been snowboarding, we're hoping to ski on Saturday (there's a great little mountain just up the road) and we're going dog sledding (or mushing) tomorrow. Now I need to plan ...
Today is all about packing and feeling nostalgic for all that this fall foliage experience has meant to us. We had our last lunch at Bart's where Guy made up a new grilled sandwich for us of green & red pesto, turkey, corned beef, cheddar, and tomato and we chatted with Linda - not really saying goodbye because we're meeting at 7:30 AM tomorrow to have breakfast together. I got a 24oz vanilla shake which did just a good job of filling me up as a burger would. Shell got the all American classic, the Root Beer float.
She also got some 'Whoopee Pie' which is a local thing but we couldn't fit it in so we'll save it for Ron (Later Ron).
The 117 South all the way back to Cornish was a great sweeping road but the surface a little cracked.
