My friend is a big fan of the snorkeling, so she set us all up with an unforgettable outing - the catamaran snorkel cruise! We booked our tour through a website given to us by our hotel, Viator. What we didn't realize is that we weren't booking with a specific company - just the tour and then Viator selected the company. So, I guess we were lucky because all went smoothly and we had a great time. Now that I ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico bookitorskipitOur original intent today was to go explore Old San Juan, however when we woke up we decided that we needed to recoup from the previous night, so we decided to make it a pool day. We got ourselves ready for the pool and then made our way to Don Jose's, located on Ave. Isla Verde. Breakfast here was cheap and yummy! It was a great place to grab a "quick" bite, and I mean that ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico bookitorskipit... cannons, living quarters, view of El Morro and a nice ship photo. As we got onto the ship for a late lunch everything was so warm...to find out while we were gone they had a malfunction (no toilets, no air conditioning and no food). Tonight we ate light at dinner, went to the Folkloric Show, and partied with friends at the Tropical Island Night Deck Party. We learned some new dance moves and made the DVD doing the Conga Line. St. Thomas is our next port.
San Juan, Puerto Rico cabsvacations... Studies, Global Economy, Comparative Politics and International Financial Analysis. Global Studies is going to be a joke, as everyone who has done SAS previously has told me it would be, but my other three classes seem pretty legit. My professor in my finance course seems pretty cool and wants to make sure we all stay up to date on current events at the beginning of every class so it will be nice to know what is going on in the rest of the ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico hepstein1... its unusual recipes. Appetizers include a dazzling array of taste explosions: Try shrimp spring rolls with peanut sofrito sauce; crab cake with aioli; or perhaps a ripe plantain, goat-cheese, and onion tart. Main course delights feature charred rare yellowfin tuna with onion escabeche and red-snapper filet with sweet-potato purée served with foie gras butter. Our favorite remains the grilled shrimp with polenta and barbecue sauce made with guava.
San Juan, Puerto Rico markfj... to global perspectives, and then the Global studies course which all students have to take. All of my classes are on A days (classes are separated into A and B days, except for Global Studies which meets everyday, and classes only meet while at sea...so 44 days of class, but in my case only really like 22!!). So today was a B day which means I only had the Global Studies and had the rest of the day to study on the back deck where I received an evil sunburn ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico tim_at_sea... to salsa, which was fabulous. Of course the girls greatly outnumbered the boys so the girls danced with each other, but one day I'd love to dance it with a man. After the welcome reception, we went out. I met up with Lauren and Katie at a bar called La Tortuga, after ten of us crammed into a taxi van. Michelle and I sat in the front seat together, and the driver was hitting on Michelle the entire time, telling her he wanted to take her out the next ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico hayesbk... to go for my Medical Soc. class to compare and take field notes. It was pretty interesting except that I got a lot of strange looks from the people in the waiting room because I was watching them, and even stranger looks if I asked a question. We eventually ended up in a city called Isla Verde, and spent the afternoon there before coming back to the ship for dinner. We had had lunch in port and were starting to get tired. Besides, we had the welcome ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico d.nischelle... DJ jazzy jeff, Jessica who we lovingly call asian, because she fulfills all asian stereotypes, who goes to Pitt, and Joe from Cornell. Its actually pretty amazing because in the last ten hours this ship has suddenly become our home. We all walk around smiling and saying hi to each other and pretend that it's the first time we've been introduced when the other person forgets our name. There are a few who don't join in on this friendly little tradition but we ...
