MEXICO AWAITS!

... noticed amongst the trillions of trinkets and tacky tourist gifts. The proprietor brings it down. I can tell Michael likes the shirt. 595 pesos. Michael balks, turns on his heels to walk away and the man urges him to “Calm down, Senor, relax. What would you like to pay for the shirt?”

They haggle and finally settle on a price of 140 pesos, about 10 US dollars. Michael is happy, I am beat, the humidity is God awful, and we are both ...

Laredo

... doctors, opticians and especially drugs. The street was full of little shops and items of souveneirs, full of people, both tourists and Mexicans, walking from one place to another. The sweltering heat (40 C), almost impossible to go very long without going into shops to cool off, some only with fans.
After lunch in a typical Mexican restaurant in the area and buy some souveneirs, walking back to USA on Rio Grande.

So I come home to parades down my street every night till 11 or so. Horns, drums, singing, ect. I really didn't mind at all, it was pretty neat to see this every single day for 8 days. LOL. I ate BRAIIIIINS! Yes that is right, I ate brain tacos and tongue tacos. It's a little squishy but not bad.

Still livin' in PV.

... the following morning. It had been a rather long day by this point and we were ready for a siesta of the Canadian variety. We headed to the Cuban bar ,'El Bodeguita del Medio', for 2 for 1 happy hour drinks. What a pleasant surprise it was when we realized that the bar was a wi-fi hot spot. Even more pleasantly was the fact that we happened to have our laptop with us. A few emails and a couple of updates later we met a couple ...

... had been at the Saxon the night before and that Buddy Miles had shown up and played. Dang! It turned out that they were from San Francisco and were in town for the ACL Festival. The lady said that Frisco's music scene couldn't even compare to Austin's. We found a table on the edge of the covered patio and sat down to catch the last of L.Z. Love's set while we waited for our ...

... to make sure both the bike and myself were warmed up before the event began. The first loop is always my worst and the bike has a tendency for the clutch to stick and stall the motor if it's not good and hot. The first thing I did was to wind around between some trees as there are always lots of tight turns in the sections and it used to be where I lost a lot of points. I'm happy to report that I'm getting much better at turns and pushing of the front end doesn ...

... I got my gear unloaded, we went down to Breed and Co., a real hardware store. I wanted a metal gas can to store race fuel in and we had called ahead to make sure they carried them. It's getting hard to find a gas can that is not made of plastic these days. It turned out to be a safety can which is just what I wanted. Next stop was TJ's Cycles on North Lamar where I knew I could get my new can filled with high ...
